This evergreen perennial herb forms dense cushions of aromatic leaves with clusters of small purple flowers. Only growing to around 10cm tall, this variety is excellent as a mat in rockeries, borders, window boxes and pots. Creeping thyme is also often used in the creation of living walls and green roofs!. In the Edwardian era creeping thyme lawns were fairly common, with a springy cushion and dashes of colour, as well as a lovely aroma being released underfoot.
