Does this set have an anchor that you have to bury first, then slide the base down into? Just wondering what holds it in the ground. Can't tell by pic

So it has detachable pegs that can go into sleeves in the ground (which are not provided). But since they are pretty sturdy, I just use them without the pegs and they lie flat on the ground. I use them for when I umpire adult rec league baseball and they are the best bases anyone in the league uses. Sturdy, they don't move when you step on them, but they give just enough in slides to prevent injury.

Can I lay these flat on the ground without any pegs? Or do they come with welded pegs?

These bases require an in-ground stanchion, you may be looking for the PVC Quilted Bases (Champro Item #B010). They will lay flat and only require the pegs which are included!

can you use metal cleats on these bases without tearing them
