I like this but be sure that you want a light batting. This is not as heavy as light and natural but works fine in a summer quilt.

Batting for Antique Look Quilts
I read a review of this batting elsewhere on the Internet that panned this batting. I believe the reviewer did not understand what they were getting. The reviewer had picked this bat up as a bargain at a discount store hoping it would be like the newer battings that are being used by quilters today such as Dream Cotton or Warm and Natural. This batting is not those battings and one will indeed be disappointed if one expects to handle this batting like newer battings. The reviewer's basic complaints were the fragility of the batt and bearding during the quilting process. Yes. This bat is fragile and will shred if not handled carefully. And yes. It will beard during the quilting process. This is an old batt that has been available by Mountain Mist for longer than I have been quilting(some 25 years.) What the reviewer does not understand is that this batt reproduces the look of the 100% cotton batts used in antique quilts while allowing one to quilt up to 2 inches apart whereas antique cotton batts would require quilting as close as an 1/8" or 1/4". If one expects this batt to handle and behave like the newer cotton batts one will indeed be disappointed.I, however, continue to find this batt to be my favorite batt even today. I have made dozens of machine quilted quilts with this batt and can testify that if handled and quilted properly produces beautiful, lightweight, drapeable quilts that are far softer than the modern cotton counterparts mentioned above. Once quilted (up to 2 inches apart) this batt does not beard at all, is extremely soft to the touch and handles and drapes beautifully. It also produces the puckered look of antique quilts after the quilt has been washed. And this batt is extremely durable. I actually use my quilts as they were intended instead of keeping them stored away in a cedar treasure chest. Quilts with this batt are warm in winter and cool in summer because they breathe so well. (I live in Houston.) They hold up well. I have a quilt I made with this batting 20 years ago that has endured numerous machine washings. The machine quilting stitches give out sooner than the batt does. This is my favorite batt for its light weight, soft, drapable qualities and antique look while producing extremely durable machine quilted quilts. Just be willing to handle it with care during quilt sandwiching and quilting and quilt it 2" apart.
