What a ride…I’m sad it’s over
Wow wow wow. What a beautiful end to an incredible journey. These books kept being pushed down on my TBR but I’m so happy I finally dove in because what a wonderful ride. The magic system is so unique and the character development is *chefs kiss*. The romance is a subtle, yet consistent backdrop to the journey of all the characters. There isn’t spice per se, but the unflinching love that developed between characters was heart warming and made me giddy. This was truly a journey I wish I could go on again for the first time, so do yourself a favor and bump this up to the top of your TBR.

Loved it!
A wonderfully different duology! I loved the magic and I loved the story. I honestly wish there was more to read.

An incredible sequel that surpassed the first.
Two Twisted Crowns took everything I loved about the first book and elevated it. The characters, the tension, the twists—it all came together beautifully. I was completely hooked and just loved every bit of it. A fantastic continuation of an already unique and compelling series.

A Satisfying Conclusion
Physical Condition: The book arrived in good condition. No scrapes or dents as if it had been dropped or dragged along a jagged surface. There were no missing pages or noticeable misprints that affected my reading the book. I ordered a new copy and that is what I received.Book Review: This was a great follow-up and conclusion to the duology! The book continued seamlessly from where we left off in the previous one. We cut right to the chase and didn’t waste time on any unnecessary crap. I appreciated the fact that the author switched the structure to a Multiple POV. Not only was the book more interesting, but it allowed us to get to know the characters better and connect with them on a deeper level. I grew more attached to them honestly and was not ready to see any one of them be unalived. The magic system was so interesting in the way things worked and I enjoyed finding out the truth of the history of how their society became what it was. I liked the fact that we see the ugly truth of the myth that became twisted and romanticized over time. Even in seeing the way the characters faced what they did and still decided to be in charge of their own fate instead of letting history repeat itself. There was much more action and suspense in the sequel considering all the groundwork had already been laid. I was never quite sure the direction the author was going to take the book, which made it more enjoyable. The ending is what bumped this book up from four to five stars. I was dying to know how things played out and didn’t want to put the book down. I even liked the additional romance that budded throughout. I was rooting for both couples and so desperately wanted them to have their happy endings. While I was rather satisfied with the ending, I think I wanted just a tinnnyyyy bit more of their life after things finished. Maybe have the epilogue do a 5 year or so time jump to show how their lives adjusted and changed? That probably would’ve made it feel like the perfect conclusion. Overall I can say I did enjoy this duology and I can see why people suggest it. Was I obsessed with it to the point I’m going to be thinking about it nonstop for days to come? No. Was it still worth the read? For sure. It’s always hit or miss with trending books, but this one at least didn’t feel like a waste of time (even for being a YA novel). I give it 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfect suspense and tension.
Two Twisted Crowns is the second part of Rachel Gillig's The Shepherd King duology and I am so glad I finally picked up this book. I loved the characters, learning more as the story unfolded, was a bit worried for a while as it was unfolding and want to go back and read both books now that I'm finished. I loved everything about this book and enjoyed the audiobook as well.

4.5 stars for a fantastic world.
I'm actually surprised at how much I liked both books. They are well written, engaging, lyrical, and heartfelt. I especially enjoyed the bonus chapter in my B&N special edition. The only reason I can not give them 5 stars is because of the narrator of the audiobooks. Her voice isn't too bad, but the thing that kept irritating me was her incorrect and inconsistent pronunciation of the word hearth. She kept pronouncing it HER-th instead of the correct way of h-AR-th. I know it is a little thing, but it kept pulling me out of the story. All in all, though, they are a fantastic read, and I will be reading more by Rachel Gillig in the future.

Stupid crying. Utterly destroyed. The best book I have read in AGES.
Please excuse me while I cry like a big stupid baby. This book completely DESTROYED me. I enjoyed the first book of this dualogy but this one was *chef's kiss* I don't even have words. You know when you finish reading a book that completely sucked you in and held you captive from page one until the very end, and all you can do is stare at the wall for a while and mourn that you can never experience it for the first time again? That happened to me. It's been a while. This world was captivating and stunning, the plot is completely original and creative, and the romance had me scrambling...very mild spice but burning tension throughout that was captivating...I was hesitant to read these two books but I will now eat all my words. Read this dualogy. RIGHT. NOW.

GOOD! 3/5*
I am a bit disappointed because I expected more from this sequel. First book was better for me personally. With this one, I felt bored when I came up to the middle. Somehow, I started to feel annoyed by the another love story that was happening between two characters - Elm and Ione. In some moments Elm was a bit "too much" for me (his personality), same as Ione. Maybe it could be better if those two didn't fell in love. It felt like their love story was an "extra added thing" just so that the plot of the whole book would be longer, that something keeps happening. Maybe sequel could be shorter but deeper in other things instead of adding another couple next to already main ones that are in love. To be fair, yes - it is romantasy but it felt worst than the first one. Would I recommend it? Of course I would. If this romantasy is really highly praised, it could be fair to say that maybe romantasy is just not my thing so this could be the reason for not that great personal impression of the book.
