Are the small ends where the U bolts go set at 90 degrees to the part extending from the Y bracket to create a flat surface to attach a flat board to?

Yes. The smaller end flanges where the U-bolts attach are pretty much 90 to the main axis of the bracket. The bracket is pretty heavy duty, but if you needed to a vise and adjustable wrench is all that is needed to adjust the angle to which you need. So yes the two flanges make a flat surface to which you could attach a flat board to.

With this product, is it required to bolt or attach in to chimney? Also, is the 18 ft reported per roll, or total?

18 ft is per roll and raps around the chimney. There are two rolls. There are no instructions (which is sad) so you just have to use your own judgment as to how to best install this antenna support.

I just received this, I don't have instructions. Can someone please help.

First of all wear gloves when handling the strapping that goes around the chimney, the metal is sharp and will cut you at a glance. Place the Y bolts on either side of the mount at the widest point. Before getting to chimney, slide the metal clip retainer on the strap with the ears closest to the Y bolt, slide the strap on the Y bolt then take the end and go through the retainer once, fold the strap back over the retainer and squeeze the clips down over the strap. Repeat the process on the other Y bolt at the chimney. The obvious thing to do with the U bolts is attach your mast to the mount once your have attached both assemblies to the chimney. I hope this helps.

Tightening the bolts, the clips slip so I crushed them down, now I need to relocate the antenna and need 4 more clips, can I get them from you?

These are Band-It clips Pretty expensive as I don't know anyone selling less than 100 pieces.

Good but watch Youtube before installing.

Worked great after watching a YouTube video on how to put the crimps in the strapping. There are no instructions that come with the unit. It seems sturdy enough for a small ham radio 3 meter vertical antenna.

Works great

This was my first time using straps to mount an antenna to a chimney. Once you get the first band in place, the second is quick and easy. I trimmed the bands to length using metal snips to get the perfect fit. The brackets are strong and doing a good job holding the 1 3/8" galvanized pipe (a piece of chain link fence top rail) that my antenna is on. I painted the pipe with some gray Rustoleum spray paint, and it matches the brackets perfectly.

I bought this item because it is cheap and fits my needs. I am giving it 4 stars, because there were no instructions included in the package. Luckily, it is an easy installation.....

Check chimney cap deminsions.

There were no instructions on how to route the banding through the crimp piece. Found something after 45 minutes searching on the net. Mount seemed a little flimsy, but I could not mount the pole as it interfered with the chimney cap. Thinking through a modification now. Also be very careful working on the roof.

They held up way better than o ever thought

I have two sets holding up my metal mast for my PT99 antenna, held up great on a very heavy, stormy year without any issues. Great buy for securely mounting your base antenna

Working great for my weather station. The chimney mount went together in 10 minutes. Purchased a 10’ chain link fence galvanized top rail from Lowe’s as the mast. I wouldn’t recommend using this mount for a large TV antenna. If you need instructions to put this together don’t shop at IKEA.

cheap, barely complete, minimalist, light-weight at best. Do not recommend.

No instructions included, the nuts are close to the size of the holes but no washers were included. There are no corner brackets to keep the strap from cutting into the brick or to keep the brick from wearing away the strap. Thankfully I'm putting a tiny, light-weight antenna up or I'd return this and buy a better kit.
