Hurricane Calico Jack Inshore Spinning Rod

I just fished 3 speckled trout tournaments with this rod and have nothing but good things to say about it. I fished hard for 2 days with this rod. Casting big inshore live baits. Caught trout from 2.5 lbs to 4 lbs. The rod performed wonderfully. Light enough to fish all day with but long enough to easily sling baits long distances. I am really impressed with the light weight of the blank. Cork handle is great. I only buy cork handles for inshore/nearshore rods.I did experience some shipment packaging issues from Amazon. The packaging was horrendous on the first delivery. I ordered 2 of these rods and both had broken/bent guides upon delivery. I immediately got on Amazon and submitted a return authorization. And reordered for the exchange. Couldn't have been easier. And the packaging on the 2nd shipment was much more robust. No issues at all with damage.Yes the shipment packaging may be insufficient to protect the rods at times, but know that going in and be ready to respond accordingly.

Best inshore rod on the market. I used this in the Indian river lagoon. Its amazing. Pulls 30 inch reds with ease, but I still can feel the subtle hits of a sheepshead. My cobia fight had the rod bent, but it handled it very well. This is now my number one rod. I went for 7' 6". I cast further then most 8footers and with just a flick of the wrist.I paired it with a okuma cedros. My buddy bought this and paired it with his slammer 3.

When I bought this, I noticed almost all reviews were 5-stars or 1-star. Looks like if people actually received an unbroken rod they love it and most of the 1-star reviews were from folks who received a broken rod. Add me to teh 1-star review list. My buddy from another state just got in town to visit so we were going to go fishing so I ordered this rod but it arrived broken today (we're fishing tomorrow). Very disappointing, especially since this is a known problem from quite a few other reviewers.

EDIT: The second rod, came in a much much much better box and arrived in one piece! It is a beautiful rod and feels amazing paired with a 3000 sized reel. 9 guides in total on the 7'6" M and has a very solid back bone. Great rod, just know that you may get a broken one before you get an intact rod! Tight lines.1 star for now came because it came with the tip broken off 2 guides deep, and the broken peice didn't even come in the box!!! Heard it's a great rod and waiting to give it 5 stars if i can get one in one peice!

For the rod itself I give a 4 star review. It is responsive and for inshore fishing for redfish, speckled trout, flounder and other species I am fairly certain you would be hard pressed to beat the feeling for a such a low price. That being said, I ordered two rods after reading the reviews because of the number of people citing guide breakage. I am glad I did as one rod came fine with only a small defect in one guide yet correctable; the other rod was splintered, and every single guide, no exaggeration, was bent or jacked up. I don't even know how someone could put something like this in a box! I suspect the reason for all the damages is all you will get is a rod in an over-sized box, no packaging around it or anything. That being said, the good rod performed well. The other rod, let's just say the name Hurricane is what it went through prior to arriving!

Great rod. Shipped in a box! This rod is the same as the one I bought 2 years ago in store.

A little to much action was really hoping to be firmer.

The rod came in snapped in half with all the guides bent out of shape and completely destroyed. I hear this is a great rod but until I receive an intact undamaged rod then I will change my review.Edit:New rod came in intact this time and looks to be okay. The rod came in a box that was bent so I had my doubts but it came intact
