Great first flute! Can't beat the price. Not sure about durability, but straight out of the box, it plays very well! Check out the video where we compare it with a professional model Yamaha. Yes, there are some challenges to play the upper notes in tune, and a good player will be able to distinguish the lesser tone quality. The lower register is especially good sounding. For a beginner, or for someone who wants to double on the flute, this would be a good pick. I would recommend that it be played first by an experienced player just to make sure it is adjusted properly. We checked the position of the head cork, and it was spot on. Recommend 4.5 out of 5, so I'll round that up to 5 stars for this review.

I,come to think of it have played the flute for almost 70 years! I have two other flutes a Geminhardt and a Yammaha 600 series. the I love. Just for the looks, I chose the black with gold keys. And was totally amazed at how well it played and a matter of fact I and others whom are not professionals found it hard to in a fast piece with a run, hard to play the low C and make it sound good. It is easier with this as all the extra keys are not in the way! on the foot joint!!! The tone is not bad. Its a fun flute temporilly.And the price is right!

Overall, it's a good instrument for someone trying to get back into the flute. After playing for 7 years and taking a break my old flute have out and I needed a quick fix. Not going to sugar coat it, the tone quality is pretty bad and the instrument is really flat. I would not recommend this instrument for a beginner because it takes a lot of air for the higher octaves. For someone that has been playing for awhile, we all know that tone is created by the player not the instrument. Of course cheap material won't hope, but for the price it is not bad at all. If you get silver the keys and head joint will tarnish fast. I got the black and gold keys and have not had any issues with the black paint chipping or the gold keys darkening. The silver lip is tarnished already though despite cleaning it good after every use. I wish that part was also gold. At the end of the day, the instrument itself is beautiful and I'm happy to be playing again. Especially since buying a new instrument is not an option at the moment. I don't think the instrument will last very long, but I do think it will last long enough for what it's worth. Hope this helped.
