There are many kinds of wood that can be used to make a box. Some better than others. This one was just ok. My biggest gripe is the bottom. It is too thin. I'll try to reinforce it somehow before it falls out. With some work this could be a descent box. Hinges are good and the lid will need some padding when closing. Not bad for my first wooden box (for the price).

Generally a nice wooden box. But my box arrived cracked. It was cracked during assembly or shortly thereafter. Perhaps because that area of the corner miters were not glued and things were able to move.First ding is the box arrived cracked and in places is not glued.Second ding is the bottom isn't as think as the rest of the box. It's built like a typical drawer: a very thin sheet of material in a groove.A third minor ding is the top of mine was marred, box was dropped or something dropped onto it and there's a one inch scuff and dent that will need filling if I want the top smooth for painting. Sanding will fix the scuff (loose wood fibers around the dent); but the dent itself is too deep.

Durable and good quality. I stained this box for a project and it came out great.

The outer edge of the lid was rounded off which was nice but it was very rough. It should have been sanded alot better. 1 box had a 3" wood knot on the side which was also rough. The other box had a couple of small dents in the front of it. Also the wood used for the bottom is very thin. For the price I paid they should be better. I purchased these for gifts to be used as memory boxes.
