I like that theyβre raw and freeze-dried with minimal ingredients β definitely healthier than the usual stuff. Arrived fresh and packaged well.β A MUST HAVE FOR THE PUPS Review: I was buying dried chicken for cat treats but the cats refused to eat them. I started researching and found dehydrated turkey was recommended. My cats were instantly obsessed with these turkey tenders. And my cats do not normally eat any table foot but this turkey treat must taste amazing. Just ordered a subscription to these so I donβt run out. Highly recommended!

I purchase this brand of freeze dried turkey strips and whole turkey hearts for my cat, to change up the raw whole prey he eats. I can give them as a healthy treat, or as a meal with pre-mix finisher. This product and the turkey hearts arrives exactly as pictured and I will continue to order. I also order the freeze dried venison on several occasions, but I did not have the same experience. My packages of venison were not meaty strips as pictured and were mostly skin scraps. A dog would not mind, but my cat won't chew up strips of skin and there isn't a lot of meat on many of the pieces so they aren't worth the price. I can purchase ground venison for half the price. Totally recommend the turkey strips and hearts. Wish they also sold beef kidney slices.

Update June 2024 Turkey Tenders are FAT, FAT, FAT ... still. And everyone else is okay with this? Come on! The meat is permeated with fat. You call this nutritious? What a complete rip off! November 2023 Not one decent piece of meat in the bag. Nothing but fat scraps. My cay walked Way from it. Might be okay for dogs, but NOT FOR CATS. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONET CAT PEOPLE! UPDATE 10/16/2023: I purchased a bag from Amazon to see if the product improved at all. Nope. ALL FAT. These are scraps. Not for a cat for sure. This time, he sniffed it and walked away. One other time he vomited. I cannot believe Fresh is Best puts their name on this product and continues to sell this. How do they get away with it. Pet guardians, you MUST COMPLAIN. I am a person of principles, and justice, and this is WRONG. Your pup might like them, but be careful, these will make you lr baby fat if you feed too many. All of this fat is not good for their sweet hearts, either. UPDATE: 09/03/2023: Well, I placed a big order directly with Feesh is Best instead of purchasing through Amazon hoping for better results. The results were not better; they were worse. Do you know what is heartbreaking? I will tell you. When I feed my kitty, Apollo, his old favorite Fresh is Best Raw Turkey Tenders, he spits them out or he sniffs the pieces in his bowl and scurries away. I call this the "Sniff and scurry" reaction. It speaks volumes. Apollo will no longer eat it. Next, Apollo returns and continues to stare into his bowl and look up at me, pleading, for the Turkey Tenders he used to love and devour. Apollo looks up at me longingly for more food because he is so hungry. My heart breaks for him. This is because the turkey I am feeding him - despite all of my efforts to cut out the layers of stringy fat - is unacceptable now. Both the turkey Tenders AND the Chicken Breast Tenders are now "Fat Tenders." I have never seen so much fat before in their product. Their meat is LACED with fat. Compared to the first order I ever received from them, I barely recognize this product anymore. Their meat tenders are simply getting worse - plummeting- and in my good conscience, I cannot feed this to my kitty ever again. He is already getting a little chubbier from the extremely high-fat content. Apollo needed to gain some weight, but not this way. It seems so many freeze-dried pet food companies create their recipes with dogs in mind, and then they add "for dogs AND CATS" onto their label. These are dog treats, not cat treats. I would not feed this much fat to a dog, either. Goodbye, Fresh is Best. If this is the turkey you say you are paying "top dollar for," then I might suggest you seriously consider a new supplier. I will be looking for a new company, and I will insist on Fresh is Best issuing me a well-deserved refund - again! UPDATE 08/17/2023: I ordered the Turkey Tenders directly from Fresh is Best instead of through Amazon. The quality was much better! The order was still a bit too fatty, but overall it was leaner. The order was nice and fresh, too, and soft and tender, unlike some of the hard rubbery orders I received from Amazon. I have been ordering many freeze-dried products from Amazon for a long while, and many of the orders are not fresh - I do not know how or if it is possible for freeze-dried meat to actually become stale, but it sure seems like that was the case. I truly wonder if this is an issue of the food not being stored appropriately - in a cool, dry location without a ton of light. I also question whether or not the trucks are too hot. Orders seem worse, to me at least, in the summer when the freeze-dried packages are subject to humidity. Here on the east coast humidity has been extreme this year! Further, they often arrived crushed; however, Amazon appears to be switching to shipping freeze-dried food in boxes with internal protection, not flimsy envelopes, more often of late. Anyway, if you want the best fresh order directly from Fresh is Best - not Amazon. Fresh is Best is best - despite the high-fat content - on the market. Hope you enjoyed my "play on words!" πππ UPDATE 08/13/2023: I opted to buy Fresh is Best Turkey Tenders with "Subscribe and Save" because I had so much faith in the product. As I shared in my previous review, the first couple of orders consisted of beautiful, ample-sized slices of turkey that looked like the turkey you would. serve at Thanksgiving dinner. But not since the first orders - not anymore. Sadly, I am canceling my subscription. The bags of Turkey Tenders I am receiving of late seem to just get worse in terms of fat percentage. Hard fat. When I cut up some of the pieces it sounds like I am cutting through bands of cellophane or plastic! Honestly, I can smell the fat when I open the bag. In my experience, the Turkey Tenders are not easy to simply "break off, crumble or slice with a knife" as the writing on the outside of the bag states. I feel like a butcher. I have to cut off the edges of thick skin and fat and then dice the turkey into smaller, more manageable pieces for my guy. Sometimes, now, I have to go the extra distance and cut out sections of hard fat "inside" of the meat while trying to retain whatever decent meat remains. Feeding this turkey ends up being a lengthy process. And what lies at the bottom of the bag? Scraps of thick skin and FAT - entire chinks of fat. Maybe a dog would eat the "scraps," but not a cat - not my kitty at least. Excess fat is not good for your pup, either! Personnel at Fresh is Best shared that they "pay top dollar" for this meat, and they do not receive many complaints. Perhaps some folks do not speak up about this. I do, so I hope I speak on behalf of other furbaby guardians; it would mean a lot to me if my efforts help others in making their decision to buy or not to buy. Nothing changes if we remain silent. I hope the good folks at Fresh is Best reevaluate the quality of the turkey they are selling, and perhaps, consider a new source for their inventory. They have a good thing going, but consistency is key. I find that consistency and pricing are both frustrating issues in the freeze-dried pet food industry. I am not buying Fresh is Best Turkey Tenders anymore. We are very disappointed. We thought we found the perfect freeze-dried meat only to be let down once again. One last thing: We had no luck with their freeze-dried salmon, either. I received sparse filets comprised mostly of skin and connective tissue (fat?). I had to take a sharp knife and scrape off the thin, white slivers of wax paper-like tissue that sticks to the meat and then scrape off whatever meat I could accumulate. This resulted in a bowl full of meat-turned-to powder, and I added water to create a salmon slush to feed my boy. He ate a little bit, but not much. I did not have the experience, as the instructions written on the outside of the bag claim, of breaking off easy-to-feed pieces for my kitty. However, I must say this: After purchasing freeze-dried salmon from one company after another, I believe the quality of freeze-dried salmon plummeted over the past few years. Definitely. Perhaps the decline in the availability of generous meaty salmon is due to over-fishing. I suppose I still am dumbfounded by the sad fact that vendors still sell it - and sell it at a very high price - even though they are filling orders with mostly skin and maybe fat. It is not rocket science, right? The bottom line is more "cents," and less good sense. MY FIRST REVIEW: I was preparing to write a glorious review about Fresh is Best Turkey Tenders and Chicken Tenders. I thought I finally found nirvana - maybe the best freeze-dried meat on the market. I have been so deeply disappointed by so many companies charging too much for hard, fatty, and even old/stale products not appropriate for a cat - or any animal! The freeze-dried meat market has plummeted in quality, I believe, due in part to the meat crisis and inflation. But the first couple of orders I received were packed with choice slices of meat - as if I sliced the turkey myself for Thanksgiving dinner. The first few orders were outstanding. But subsequent orders of late are bags full of FAT. I mean A LOT of fat - some pieces are completely all fat. Some of it is very hard. Scraps. Might be okay for dogs, but not cats. Seriously, though, it is not healthy for any of our beloved fur kids to have so much fat in their diet. I wrote to Fresh is Best. They shared that they have the best meat on the market and pay top dollar for it. Their response also let me know they do not receive many complaints - making me feel a little bit isolated. I have not given up on Fresh is Best yet. Oh - one last thing: The first pieces of meat at the very top of the bag of meat are very very nice slices but underneath are scraps full of thick, hard skin and mostly ALL FAT. The very solid white pieces in your package are probably chunks of fat. The Turkey meat should have some pink and a darker shade. Just curious: Is anyone else receiving way too much fat in their bags?
