description wrong and misleading in referring to a "1/4" Jack Adaptor [sic]"
I'm writing this before being able to try the headphones. Seems to me that the description is at best faulty: It says "1/4" Jack Adaptor [sic] Included" - well, to me that means there is an adapter, and I assumed (bad assumption, I will admit) that it would be an adapter for adapting a 1/8" plug to a 1/4" jack as is common in proper audio equipment, if that is what the buyer is using. Turns out there is no "adapter" - only a 1/4" plug - which is why I can't use the headphones yet. (The adapter I have since ordered will be here soon, and I'll revisit this then.) In defense of my understanding, I quote Google AI: In answer to my question "in audio equpment, can a plug be considered a "jack adapter" ", it replied "AI Overview No, a plug cannot be a "jack adapter" on its own; a plug is the male connector that inserts into a jack, which is the female connector. An adapter, however, is a separate device that can convert a plug from one size or type to another (e.g., a 3.5mm plug adapter for a 1/4-inch jack), but a single plug is not an adapter itself." There 'tis! my understanding exactly. Hope this description will get changed to read "1/4" plug"... ??? :-)

Yes, it does include 1/8" jack and 1/4" jack adapter
More than 15 years ago, I bought a set of small over-the-ear Sennheiser headphones because I'm sensitive to having something on my head and hoped their flexible ear pads and head band would be comfortable; also, reviewers said they delivered great sound. Not only did they deliver all that, they proved their durability and they fold up small for travel. When I wanted larger, ear-surrounding headphones, I went back to Sennheiser and bought these HD 280 PROs because I trusted that they'd also have great sound and be comfortable on my head. Again, all true. I love the padding on the top of the head band and the way the cups swivel to adjust naturally to my head so they sit comfortably over my ears. The first song I played through them was "Chain Chain Chains" sung by Aretha Franklin, and the sound quality was excellent, including the base. I have a pacemaker so I can't use wireless devices close to my chest and needed wired headphones, but long, straight cords next to my head and hands do annoy me so I appreciate the curly cord. It looks quite thick and sturdy. In response to the Nov. 2025 review titled "description wrong and misleading in referring to a "1/4" Jack Adaptor [sic]", there is actually a 1/8" jack on the headphones cord, but mine was shipped with the 1/4" jack adapter screwed on over it so it wasn't immediately visible. So yes, the 1/4" jack is indeed an adapter and the headphones come with the 1/8" jack that plugs into smart phones.

Excellent Isolation for Tracking
These cans are well known for tracking in studio where you don't want the sound bleeding into the microphone. Audio is very good, but not quite flat enough for tracking. They might be a bit tight for long listening, but they are very comfortable with the padded headband. And the collapsible fold up is really nice for tucking them away on your mix desk or for travel.

Just Not What I Was Hoping For
Background ... I am a professional broadcaster and have done voice work for many years. How your voice is represented is crucial. These headphones just lacked dynamics. The frequency range was fine, but the sound came across as if there was active noise cancellation going on (and additional little white noise, almost like processing). It was distracting and it took away from the sound. A small thing to note as well ... for stereo production, these would be annoying because there is no left or right designation. For audio theater, that is an unnecessary absurdity. L & R are industry standard and Sennheiser should know better. For the record, this has nothing to do with price. You can spend a lot of money on headphones, but the Phillips SHS-5200 proves great quality doesn't have to cost. Sadly, Phillips quit making them.
