For someone who really loves stretching out hair appointments for color, I'm always on the lookout for a product that is going to keep my hair vibrant but also not ruin it. Overtone really hits the mark with that challenge, it has a fresh minty scent too which is a relief as I've learned a lot of these products leave little to be desired when it comes to scents. It also left my hair so soft and shiny while also depositing powerful pigment, which lasted for multiple washes after using it the first time. My only word of advice is USE GLOVES, this product is very pigmented but that also means it will stain anything it touches that isn't your hair.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT! Made my hair like 3 shades brighter so good for maintaining my ginger color.

I’m quite impressed with this product! I have fairly dark blonde hair and the ginger color was still able to saturate into my hair extremely well. I did an initial test strand (on dry hair) and left the color to sit for 20 minutes. When rinsed out and dried, the color wasn’t as bright as I had hoped. When I applied the color to all of my hair (again, on dry hair) I used the product generously and covered my hair with a plastic bag to retain heat and moisture while it sat. The product recommends 10-15 minutes, but based on my text strand I chose to leave it on longer. After an hour, I rinsed it out thoroughly in a warm shower. (Hot tip: wipe: rinse any splatters off your shower walls or floor as soon as you can. It stains fast!) Pros: easy to use, solid color saturation, I didn’t have to bleach my hair prior to use, my hair felt very nicely conditioned after using, and the color itself is very nice Cons: stained my shower wall a little (which should be easily fixed with some cleaning products), had to let it sit longer than the recommended 10-15 minutes (which honestly wasn’t even a big deal), I personally did not enjoy the smell (a lot of people seem to really like the smell, but it is quite strong and really sticks around. It gave me quite a headache for the first 24 hours). Overall: I liked the product and will be using it again!

okay so first off, i naturally have strawberry blonde hair, it’s very light. when i saw this i was like “huh that seems interesting i’ll try it” so i decided to buy it. first off, it smells great, it may be a little too much of a scent for some but i think the scent is amazing. this stuff also stains very very easily. i accidentally got it on my nails and it literally dyed my natural nails. i have very thick hair even though it’s pretty short and when i first put it in and washed it out it came out streaky and BRIGHT ORANGE. i decided to redo it to really saturate my hair and i ended up using 3/4 of the container. again, it came out bright orange. i decided to dye my eyebrows because i thought “might as well”. my eyebrow hair is very hard to dye but this stuff dyed it best out of everything i have used, because i have naturally bleach blonde “see through” eyebrows. if you have light hair this will definitely not turn out “natural looking” so just be careful. i may recommend leaving it in for like 5 minutes instead of 10-15 (what it says in the instructions). my hair felt sooooo nice after using it however and looks very shiny. i don’t know how long this stays but i may be back to tell you. i only wash my hair once a week so it’ll probably stay in for awhile. i’m not mad about the orange however because i dyed my hair bright orange for about 6 months when i had a bald head. other than turning my hair bright orange, i’d highly recommend because of how healthy my hair feels :)

Ok so I’ve used overtone rose gold for brunettes on my BLONDE hair before & it faded pretty quickly. Flash forward to thanksgiving & my blonde highlights were growing out. It looked bad but I didn’t have enough money to get them redone so I decided to put the ginger color in my hair. HUGE MISTAKE. It looked pretty at first but it was too neon for me. I waited & waited for it to wash out but it wouldn’t. I decided to buy an expensive purple blue shampoo to tone it down, & that eventually helped get rid of the neon. Once it did start to fade my hair turned a disgusting yellow, green, gold color. It was atrocious. Once it got to this stage it would not fade out. I tried every color stripping concoction & tried many clarifying shampoos, but nothing would help. So I eventually had to purchase color oops, which only helped very slightly. Color oops got my hair to a yellow color that still had a green under tone. So I’ve been using olaplex clarifying shampoo & a homemade pink conditioner (some pink deposit dye & my regular conditioner) to help combat the green tone in my hair. Finally after months my hair is starting to look blonde again but it is no where near the platinum blonde I used to have. Moral of the story is, I wish I never put the ginger color on my platinum blonde hair. I have spent more money trying to get this crap out of my hair than I would have just to redo my highlights in the 1st place. I dyed my hair back in November of 2022 & it is now April of 2023 & my hair still has not returned to its original color. DO NOT USE THE GINGER COLOR IF YOU WANT BLONDE HAIR AGAIN. It does not wash out like the pink did. You have been warned.
