Total Knee Replacement and Rehabilitation: The Knee Owners Manual

Necessity for potential knee replacement patients
I'm finally on the waiting list for knee replacements after over 7 years of pain & 4 years of extreme pain. The book is written by experts, one of which had had both knees replaced.l, so it talks alot of sense about looking at people not as being too young for the op but how it impacts on their lives & their pain levels. It's invaluble for advice on what to prepare for, not with the operation but also importantly how you need to adapt your home for after the op, exercises, clothing, practicing with crutches beforehand & how little you'll be able to do initially after the op. There are clear photos on what exercises are best to do before the op & why & then those for after the op. The programme detailed in the book takes you through to 12 months after your op. Which is good as I'll be ready for my next one to be done. I'd say this book is a necessity for anyone having or thinking about having knee replacements.

Everying you need to know, well explained.
A very comprehensive guide to all a patient needs to know about the Total Knee Replacement operation and the rehabilitation which should follow. Well explained without too much jargon, and well illustrated with many photographs and diagrams. I have found it invaluable, and it leaves no questions unanswered. Best read before the events it describes so you are prepared, then read again during the process, to guide you through it. A good investment to help you get the best out of the TKR procedure.

Good book
Bought for my Dad after he had had a full double knee replacement in Feb 14. Although the book is American based the principles are the same and he found it very useful for tracking his progress week to week. It's now 8 weeks since his op and he is walking unaided and although still has some pain is doing great!!! He is doing a lot of walking which is more than he could do before and his scars are nearly gone! It's unusual for someone to have a double knee replacement at the same time but he needed it!

Excellent book for anyone about to undertake knee replacement surgery
Excellent book for anyone about to undertake knee replacement surgery. People who know what they are talking about as one of the authors has had a knee replacement. Written in everyday no nonsense language. I am about to have my second knee replacement and wish I had known about this book before I had the first one done. Even if you are considering buying this book post op it will be well worth it as it covers healing and therapy issues for up to a year and beyond after the operation, as well as advice and guidance before an op.

Have you had a knee replacement
Excellent condition, took about a week to arrive, so wish I had had it before the op.It is arranged chronologically, general information, surgical technique, then, day 1, day 2 etc. I think it was day 14 when it arrived. Lots of ideas for additional exercises. It did cause me a bit of concern, they recommend repeating some of the exercises far more than my physio sheet from hospital. Some of the excersises are performed on gym equipment which I don't have access to.Its a good book to dip in and out of, but I wouldn't follow it slaveishly

this book was recommended by a colleague who had had a knee replacement, so I bought it for a family member about to undergo the procedure. Both could not speak highly enough of it, contains some good exercises apparently.

The best explanations and advice
The exercise photographs show that the person involved has had knee surgery, unlike most other exercise advice books. The explanations of most of the human feelings, reactions, difficulties, and fears are clearly explained, and from recent personal experience, I needed those explanations to overcome the aftermath of TKR. THANK YOU to the authors.
