We put these balls around our garage because chipmunks were living under it and excavating our patio. After a week, all activity stopped. I seldom see any chipmunks in our yard now .

Seems like scent based deterrents are a waste of money. If a rodent identifies a food source, e.g., my tomatoes, no scent will stop them from having a meal or just grabbing a green tomato and abandoning it after a couple bites. I have wasted money on a number of different scent based supposed deterrents, this one being the latest, based on a friend's recommendation, but the squirrels and chipmunks are undeterred. Physical barriers help but aren't foolproof either.
