Looks like it was dropped and was delivered sitting with the ...
I received the first one, broken. No fault of Amazon, clearly mishandled by UPS. Looks like it was dropped and was delivered sitting with the this side up facing down. All the packaging was shattered inside. Contacted Amazon that night. They setup a pickup for the next day. UPS came and took that one away and I was credited back my full purchase price when I called. I ordered a second and it arrived in good condition. Assembly was easy and quick. Seems well made and works very well. I had the Gamma Progression 200 and that one worked well. But stringing using the drop weight takes longer and I wanted the a six point mounting system instead of the two point mounting system. I would say that after stringing only two rackets with the X-ST, my time has been cut in half and the result is more consistent. One tip, crank slowly, not too fast. Two-three seconds before locking out. No damage done going faster, but you need to give the string time stretch to get consistent tensions (that's true of any crank stringer). You can Google constant pull versus lockout and you will find several videos that talk about it. The fixed clamps work very well and are a lot easier and quicker than the floating clamps. I would agree you need to buy a tension calibrator. Mine was off by about 3lbs. Not sure about the comment about 24lbs, seems like a lot.All in all this seems to be a quality piece of equipment that should do the job for years. If you are looking for a step up from the entry stringer (drop weight), its hard to go wrong with this one. It is rock solid and works well. Even if you one day would like to have an electronic constant pull model, you don't need to toss this one.The Wise 2086 electronic tension head can be swapped out for the existing crank tension head and mounted on the stringer for less than buying one of the more expensive electronic models. One final note. The stringer is not light. It is aluminum and steel and a bit hefty. While it is technically portable, it is not really something you want to be moving all the time. You are better off either finding a spot to keep it or getting the matching stand for it. Hope this helps.

One of the best
I’ve been stringing on and off for over 25 years. I’ve gone through multiple machines and always regret selling them. Hopefully, this will be my last. Its really tough to beat a Gamma lock out machine. Craftsmanship is second to none. No cheap parts here. From the clamps to the hardware, this is a solid machine that should last a lifetime or longer. It ain’t cheap but you get what you pay for. Came with all of the tools needed to string. Drawers are a nice touch. No instructions but this can be found on their website.

Works great!
My son is 17 and hoping to play D2 college. Loves this device! Was braking strings on 2 rackets a week. Wish we had gotten is a couple years ago.

The change from thumb screw to hex bolt was done at end of 2023
I bought my first stringing machine. I am age 80 yrs. old. Gamma X-Stringer X-ELS is a very solid machine. I am glade to select this machine. But I have notice after my first stringing job that a line stuck sometime in the gripper’s jaw after release tension and at the 2rd trial of stringing job a line slipped a little bit in the tension jaw. I have also found that the set screw was a little bit tight, so the upper jaw made it difficult to move properly. I loosened a little bit, put a little oil and cleaned the jaw with alcohol. After that every things start to working normally. Also thumb screws are missing from the shoulder support base under the mounting frame, replace by hex bolts. Support said Hello- Yes, this is correct for the X-ELS machine, the change from thumb screw to hex bolt was done at end of 2023. Thank you. Then I think they should change introducing video and picture in manual. I am not become professional stringer, so I do not mind. For some professional home base stringer this change makes extra work for example Badminton racquet etc. So far so good.

Great stringer for a great value
I'm a highly rated player and teaching pro who's been stringing rackets for 40 years now. I've strung on everything from the $3K+ stringers to the little drop-weight tabletop my uncle started me with when I was 12 (everyone should try stringing on one of those!). I've even strung for some tour players using the most advanced machines on the market, and I can say with the voice of experience that this little Gamma is well worth the investment. It's accurate, easy to use, and well thought out in every detail. It doesn't use the electronic tensioners of the more expensive machines but I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference, and it's oh so handy to just stash in the closet -- I have it on a rolling cart -- and it comes with everything you need, although I'd recommend getting a starter hand clamp with it. Overall, I'm very, very pleased with this and glad I didn't spend the extra thousands for the electronic standups. Kudos to Gamma for continuing to impress with affordable, equipment that gets the job done.

PSA - the Wise 2086 foot pedal works with this machine
Great machine, but the foot pedal is out of stock everywhere and seems to have been out for a while. I saw the Wise 2086 foot pedal available online, but it was 70ish bucks, and I saw one one AliExpress for $19, so rolled the dice on that one. Happy to report that it works perfectly.

Great product no support
X Stringer is a solid machine. Had to confirm calibration and once done, it was spot on when the racket was done. This was confirmed by the ERT 300. However, the box arrived damaged and was missing a packet of screws. I emailed Gamma for help but still no response. I figured out what screws were required and purchased the replacement screws from the local hardware store. Very unhappy that I received no response and had no help.

Nice solid 6 point stringer. Drop weight works well. Like all drop weight, takes more time string a racket them a crank and electric motor. If you string for personal use or small group of friends, very good machine. Happy with my purchase. Gamma is top quality.

This is a great stringer. I upgraded from a eagnas and this blows it away in quality. I use the crank tensioner for a year and it's tension is dead on. I now have a wise 2086 on it. Over time you will probably ave to charger the spring in the crank or re calibrate it. I used a old gamma 6004 for a while and the crank was not very accurate. That machine was probably 10 years old though.
