Age of The Primes Leader Class The Thirteen Onyx Prime, 7.5-inch Converting Action Figure, Robot Toys for Ages 8+

Bought this as a Christmas present for my 13 year old grandson who turned 14 five days later!! He loves transformers!! This is my favorite one. Even more beautiful in person!! Very functional, pieces fit well together and it is well made!! Fun to put into different situations!!

Got this guy and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it is to toy with his different forms. I do have some slight issue with the ability for the robot form to stand easily, as the weight of the back of the figure causes it to lean over easily. Aside from this, the figure is certainly worth the price in comparison to other figures from the same line, such as the AotP Megatronus. It is also fairly intuitive with its transformations, and easy to switch from each mode. This is an ideal gift for collectors or newcomers to the Transformers franchise.

Holy Scarp I love this figure!!! This triple changer has some of the most unique forms of any transformers line. His robot mode is sturdy and has fantastic articulation. While in Centaur mode he can easily stand on his hind legs kicking with his front that creates a dramatic pose. His weapons are really detailed and his bow item fully integrates with every mode when not in use. He has an integrated mask and his griffin mode is really unique. If Transformers and Harry Potter Universes had a love child this would be it. I highly recommend this Prime

One of the best figures of the Transformers series. Great articulation and sculpt. Transformation is not to complex, has 3 modes, plus the figure has some good weight. A+++

When has a Transformer ever been a winged centaur, or a six-legged dragon-like creature as an animal triple changer? This figure isn’t perfect despite the five stars I’ve awarded but is an interesting new direction. Onyx Prime has both good aspects and bad. The good and expected aspects which a leader class Transformer should have Onyx Prime has. It is an appropriate size for a leader class. The figure has wrist rotation and moveable fingers. It has the afore mentioned three modes and is unique as a Transformer in the entire catalog of figures. The figure has a satisfactory weight belying the material contributing to this figure’s construction and durability. The dragon head has good articulation, rotation, and a movable mandible. The figure’s weapons are a horsetail which folds out into a bow and an artifact which can be placed on the end of the staff and used as an arrow for the bow. Yet this figure still lacks something, and has a few limitations. The critiques I have concerning Onyx Prime are what keep Onyx Prime from being truly phenomenal figure. The largest complaint I have is the figure’s transformation seems limited. The transformation areas are the robot mode’s legs which crouch down as an animal’s hind legs in both other modes. The robot mode’s head has a headcrest which collapses to cover the face in winged centaur mode. Then the dragon’s head covers the main head of the other two modes in the six-legged dragon mode with the help of the figure’s chest plate. The horse forelegs build out the width of the chest in robot mode And are noticeably absent from the chest in other two modes, leaving the shoulders uncovered and looking oddly distant from the torso making the torso look too narrow. The wings are nice though and hinge backwards vertically and have a pivot point to extend the wings to simulate flight. The only other transformation joint the figure really has is a backwards bend at the waistline going from robot mode to winged centaur mode which is straightened again in Six-legged dragon mode. The weapons gimmicks look awesome but are difficult to pose convincingly. In the end Onyx Prime is collectible as a member of the Thirteen Primes and is a unique triple-changing animal Transformer. I just find it lacking something despite it feeling a worthy leader class entry. However, Onyx Prime is not the most interesting figure of the Thirteen Primes (which would be Megatronus—awesome figure and also a leader class). The weapons gimmicks look good but don’t transfer into a believable action pose. Therefore, if someone is collecting Transformers it’s a good addition. If someone is looking for a toy they can’t put down, they may find it lacking.

The figure is great, very fun, highly articulated, good plastic quality, good value overall. Rating it a 4/5 is only because mine came with some loose joints, however, almost all of his joints, except the front legs for the centaur mode, are made with screws, so he is easy to fix. I will add that if you’re wondering what the tabs in the shoulders are for, there are slots underneath the hooves of his front centaur legs, which can be used in the hippogryph/beast mode as a different way of transforming him, which I show in my photos.

Great figure but the wings will pop off sometimes.

There are no downsides with this figure. It’s big, intimidating, and very interestingly designed in that he is a triple changer centaur. He is everything you’d want from a leader class. Highly recommend.

Ich finde figur mega cool, sie ist meine erste Figur der Reihe. Ich finde Hasbro wirde immer besser mir ihren Figuren von der Qualität her und vom Design. Etwas an den sich ein gewisser klemmbausteine Hersteller rin Beispiel nehmen kann

It turns into a robot and a centaur and a hippogriff. Absolutely amazing! One of the best Transformers figures ever!

WOW! This bot is super impressive! My son and I are crazy Transformers fans. He's been eyeing this guy since he was announced. He has no idea I got this and one of the other Primes for him for Christmas. Super fast delivery! I didn't think it would make it before Christmas and it showed up earlier than the date expect. WAY earlier! Everything was in mint condition, even the shipping box. Great job all around!
