Good tarp but read the description for accurate measurements
This tarp is made from nice, heavy canvas with excellent grommets and strong sewn seams. It is described as measuring 7’ x 9’ (84” x 108”) and based on that measurement, I bought it to temporarily fill a specific opening in my basement and capture some ambient heat in the room. When I opened it I found that, in truth, it is short on both sides. It actually measures 6’ 10” x 8’ 6” (82” x 102”), and does not fill the opening as I expected. I went back and read the description closer, I saw that the advertised measurements are NOT the finished size, and the actual measurements are in fact listed. My bad for inattention. In any event, this is a nice heavy tarp, does what I needed it for, and hangs very flat. Since it’s visible I didn’t want it to look like crap, but I see that after two days the wrinkles have already flattened from hanging it. I’m not noticing much smell at all.I’m also curious: the listing says indoor / outdoor use, but the package label says outdoor use only. Which is correct and why?

Awesome quality
I bought these tarps to hang as divider walls at the face of my garage. I hung them on a wire cable. They have a little bit of an odor that takes several weeks to off gas. But they are extremely durable, awesome quality. Highly recommended.

shrinks a lot, mildews badly, not water resistant enough
I have now owned several tarps made by Chicago Tarp, and I have to say they are of inferior quality. I guess I should have learned after the first one. All treated canvas tarps shrink somewhat and none are completely waterproof, but the tarps I have bought from this company are basically a waste of money, and they're not cheap. PROBLEM 1: shrunk to such a huge extent that it no longer covers my boat; I bought it large enough to exceed the end of my boat by 2 feet each end, and now I can no longer use the tarp because it has shrunk so much that the boat is no longer covered. Not kidding. PROBLEM 2: Terrible mildew. My Tarp is covering my canoe which is up on a trailer. The tarp is peaked up to an angle of about 45 degrees to the ground and pulled tight, and even the peak which has no possibility of water ever pooling is covered in disgusting mildew. This is in Oklahoma where the weather is dry and sunny the majority of the time. PROBLEM 3: water gets through and pools in my boat. My previous experience with treated cotton canvas tarps has been from a brand called Defender which I don't makes them anymore. Those tarps did not mildew, did not shrink enough for me to ever notice and did in fact keep the water out of my boats, so it's not just "the nature of cotton tarps". I would look elsewhere if you want a traditional, heavy-duty treated cotton tarp because these just don't hold up.

Good Tarp
Feels heavy duty. I bought the 20' x 10' monstrosity and it was HEAVY (in a good way). The white is definitely a beige so don't go expecting a white. Was a bit dirty out of the package already but wasn't that big of a deal (its a tarp). It didn't work for my intended use case of a golf impact screen as it tore fairly quickly in the spot the ball was hitting. Again, it wasn't made for that but I figured I would give it a try so not going to ding it for that (more of a cautionary tale for anyone thinking of using it as an impact screen alternative). Its been hanging for a few weeks now by the grommets supporting the full weight of itself without any issue.

Thick, sturdy, well-stiched - but not waterproof
Many reviewers are complaining that this tarp is not waterproof, but it is NOT advertised as waterproof. The description says water-resistant. These two terms are NOT the same. I was hoping it would be waterproof, but it's not. After an initial test, I thought it was waterproof. I made a depression and it held water for quite a while until I emptied it. After I went to quite a bit of trouble to situate the canvas horizontally where I wanted it, and tested it by spraying with a hose attachment, MOST water ran off the tarp, but some soaked through here and there. I've ordered some waterproofing spray for canvas. This is a good canvas tarp, very well made. Expensive, but worth it, IMO.

Not as high quality as I expected
Thick, sturdy canvas. An absolutely horrible chemical odor from the coating. The seams are sewn very unevenly with lots of frayed fabric showing. Only has grommets. Other brands I have bought have tabs as well to connect to. No reinforcement on any corners or grommets. Adequate, but there are better brands. Made in India.
