(Sort of) The Cat's Meow
I had a hiking stick hidden to use on getting down and back-up an extension of a local mountain trail. Someone stole it. I looked for another. Found one. It cracked and broke on me. So, I needed something that I could carry with me. This fills the bill very well. It is well-made, and sturdy. And heavy. Over 3 pounds. I'm only gonna be using it on hills, so to carry it for a flat trail, you better build up those arms. It is do-able though. Will also come in handy to keep away dogs and other animals if necessary. The compass is accurate. It comes will a rubber tip to put on the bottom. The accessories that come with it, specifically the harpoon and knives aren't sturdy enough to be practical because of the short tangs. But overall, this is a very nice item.

I do love this walking stick.
A little background - I have spinal stenosis, two crushed discs and two herniated disks along with a partially torn left Achilles tendon and no cartilage in my right ankle. Walking is a bit problematic form time to time to say the least. This walking stick is a bit heavy, but that is to be expected regardless of what type of metal is used. It will never be as light as a traditional wooden walking stick. It is a couple of pounds heavier. But a lot of that weight is the added tools such as the harpoon, spear, flint, knife, etc. Those could be removed as well as extra sections to adjust for your height as well as weight. It does take some time to unscrew sections and locate tools. If you can memorize where each tool is, you are good to go. My memory is not that great, so it takes me 2-3 attempts to locate the right tool. I tend to rely on my Leatherman more due to this. It definitely is not easy to access tools to use in an emergency situation unless a sturdy stick is sufficient to fend off whatever might be attacking. Since it is metal, it is quite durable and will do the job.My favorite is the design of the sections. Each section is identical so you can extend the length if needed, shorten it, move tools to other locations, or remove tools altogether. I had purchased the t-bar for it, but find that it is more adaptable to use it as a simple staff. Then I can continue to use the compass which is the most commonly used tool for me.Do not expect to make it through airport security with this tool. It will be confiscated - possibly even without any of the bladed attachments since it is a long metal rod. It is not classified as a medical device as other canes would be. You should be able to put it disassembled in checked baggage, but not carry it onto a plane. This is more of a personal assessment, but I did find using the textured exterior as the only grip to be a bit harsh on the hands after extended use. I also did not trust the durability of the leather strap handle that came affixed to it. Instead, I went crazy with paracord and replaced the strap and wrapped the paracord in a four lead, seven bight Turkish knot configuration to cover the grip area of the upper section. This adds the paracord as an extra tool to your arsenal and is highly recommended. If you prefer to not learn how to tie creative paracord knots, you could also store a section in one of the segments along with some waterproof matches, fishing hooks, or other gear. There is plenty of room inside the chambers to store things. I use one section for medications so that I have a couple day's does in case i get stranded somewhere.

Heavy Walking Stick!
No question that this Hiking Tactical Walking staff is very well-built. Very sturdy, and should last for darn near forever. But, this walking stick is HEAVY! I'm 5'9" so I didn't attach all the sections to maximize its length... however, I would not like to use this thing on a long hike... or even a short hike! The various tools like spear point and saw, knife, etc., are fine, but they're overshadowed by the sheer weight of this stick.I have several other metal/stainless walking sticks that are very strong, but definitely lighter. I think the manufacturer used excessive metal for strength, but incurred too much weight in the process!!!

Solid Construction
I have bad knees and use the shortened version with the T handle as a waliking stick all the time. It has a good, solid in your hand feel and has provided me with a sense of security when I've needed it. As a hiking pole, it's a little heavy on a long hike at first, but you quickly get used to that and the extra weight is worth the stability. With all of the replacement parts and addional options available its the last cane/hiking pole you'll ever need.

Clever, multi-function walking stick!
Gadget-obsessed husband loves this. It's a substantial stick that seems to be very well constructed. Haven't taken it on a long walk yet so can't speak to whether or not the weight is an issue, but it's not super heavy, so I'm thinking it will be fine. Benefits of all the tools make a slightly heavier stick totally worth it.
