Now you know
As someone who purchased and enjoyed Bellomo's books on Star Wars and Transformers, I was eager to see what he had to say about GI Joe and I was not disappointed. This book really does a top notch job on revisiting the era of GI Joe: A Real American Hero and provides a thorough description on the action figures, vehicles, and play-sets. The book is very informative and filled with bits culled from Larry Hama himself. It is a fun read and a nice trip down memory lane. One word: the new book is a hardcover and it took me longer than usual to get - I guess a lot of people want this book. But hang in there, it's well worth the wait.

Essential for Collectors
I bought this as a gift for myself, also as a reference guide for my collection. File cards and all equipment are listed as well as all of those special figurines, mail in's and figures that only came with certain vehicles.I believe there is a revised edition. This is still very good.

Highest quality GIJOE Book on the Market
No GIJOE fan of any age should be without this modern toy bible. First, the hardcover, hundreds of color glossy pages, and so many details will be an essential tool for any collector for years to come. Second, the printing quality is superb. Third, I mean, its GIJOE. How can you go wrong with it???Note: This is perfect if your collector focuses on the figures or vehicles and accessories loose, and likes a little history thrown in with each item. Super detailed. I hear the author is a decent guy too.

Very cool, good quality
This is a great quality book. The binding, cover, and pages are high quality. The content is very cool. My partner loves looking at toy concepts from the 1980s and GI Joes are one of his interests. He really, really likes this book and was very pleased when I gifted it to him for his birthday this year. I think it's worth the buy, especially as a gift, for anyone in your life who would enjoy flipping through the pages of their childhood toys.

Excellent reference guide for 1982-94 3/4" G.I. Joes & Assessories!
Excellent reference guide for 1982-94 3/4" G.I. Joes & Accessories! With a forward and additional notes from Larry Hama, and countless pictures of all of the first generation of 3/4" G.I. Joes, vehicles, play-sets, and accessories, Mark Bellomo does a great job in covering everything with pictures and descriptions. If anything, we could have been treated to a few more pictures: notably better angles of some of the vehicles & play-sets and close-ups of the rarer items and/or more shots of the packaging. Perhaps the newer edition has these, but I got this one for the great price in comparison to the revised edition. Makes a great book end for Bellomo's Transformers guide of the same era, which is also very good. Highly recommended books, both!

Almost perfect but some information is lacking.
The book is of very high quality and is professionally produced. You can tell the people who put it together are fans of the subject matter and know their stuff. The inclusion of facts, details and additional anecdotal information is something you don't usually find in guide of this type.I do however have a few criticisms regarding the layout and design of the book. The first and biggest complaint is the size of the photos when it comes to illustrating the parts for the various vehicles and playsets. Most are adequate but many are too small when you consider the number of small pieces and the overall reason the book is for - identifying the parts that go with their corresponding toy. The Terror Drome and Rolling Thunder for example have tiny two-inch square pictures showing the dozens of pieces they have - and then not every piece is shown - which is my other criticism. The entries include commonly missing or broken parts, but they don't include pictures of all the parts, again missing the point of this book. It's not in every entry but it is common enough to be frustrating. I realize the inclusion of larger pictures would make a sizeable tome that much larger, but for things like the Defiant, FLAGG and similar pieces, the value of a large photo showing all the parts is important. My only other criticism is minor and is regarding the value entries. This being a printed book it's going to be out of date - which it already is - and the fluctuating prices on the internet vs face to face make it a somewhat pointless inclusion. I suppose it's ok for a general ball park figure but there are more factors involved regarding value than parts count. In closing I do recommend this book, but you will need supplementary sources of information if you are looking for pictures of certain parts of toys.

Fantastic trip down memory lane
I grew up playing with these toys but no longer have them. I've been tempted to pick some up on ebay but I don't know where I'd put them. This book really helps out filling that nostalgia feeling. Looking through the book I can see all the toys I had as well as the ones I wished I'd had. Beautiful photos and nice descriptions give a great view of each piece.
