Delta of Venus (1996)

Delta of Venus was superb. Elana Martin: (Audie England) was a beautiful American writer of erotica who lived in paris. She falls in love with an impecably handsome French novelist of erotica named Lawrence, played by: (Costas Mandylor). This sensual erotic, heart pulsating, thrilling to the senses movie, will leave you in a world wind of passion & emotions. When Lawrence left for N.Y., he kept tabs on Elana through her publisher. He became an anonymous reader of her writings, criticizing the lack of detailed sex in her stories. Still not knowing the identity of the anonymous reader, she continue to strive to do her best in her writings, by experiencing and viewing many kinds of sexual liaisons. After she mastered the art, he congradulated her. Lawrence returned to paris to reveal his love for her. He soon learned that Elana wasn't the same shy girl he had left. The wild passion she experienced in her sexual awakenings, erupt all over Lawrence just before her swift departure from paris. A true love story. I recommend it.

This so-called "enhanced" DVD, requires that a particular program be loaded onto a computer in order to access the enhanced content. That program is known to Windows to have "issues" that affect its performance with the operating system. I tried it on two laptops: one running Vista Ultimate (64-bit), and the other running Windows 10. Both operating systems gave the error message, and did not install the required program. I was able to view the DVD without difficulty in a regular DVD viewer and in a Blu-Ray viewer, but neither one were allowed access to the "enhanced content".The seller and Amazon should include a warning about this. I don't know what the "enhanced content" is, and do not want to return the movie, but believe the DVD producer should reimburse that percentage to customers.Insofar as the movie, it does not do justice to Anais Nin, the author of the 15 short stories published as "Delta of Venus". I thought it resembled a longer version of one of the Red Shoes Diaries Showtime series, and the NC-17 version doesn't add significantly to the R version.

Both versions of the Delta of Venus DVD were practically inaudible, boring, tedious to watch, and certainly not erotic. I am a fan of the writings of Anais Nin, and this film did not do her justice. I plan on giving my copy of the film away. I certainly would never watch it again

"Delta of Venus" is beautifully filmed. The production values are exquisite. The acting is excellent. The character development is strong. And, yes, it is truly erotic. Beautifully and sensually erotic. The voice-over is softly and touchingly done, and the narration itself uses very poetic language. The editing is first rate. This is not just a good erotic movie. It's a good movie period. I warn you, though. You must be in the right frame of mind to appreciate it. You have to be mentally and emotionally prepared to immerse yourself in this beautiful delirium. I'm a harsh critic of so-called erotic films (check out my review of "The Image"). So believe me when I say, this one is a real winner!

Film made from the Delta of Venus collection by Anais Ninn, and erotic writer from the mid 20th century. One of those movies the fine arts students went to see in college during that period. My wife calls it "porneux" - porn for intellectuals. Interesting movie from the genre with lots of erotic imagery.

Oddly I had rented this before. I didnt remember renting it because its a pretty forgettable movie. watched it again, and well.. what was a watching? haha. its a bla meh , yawn movie.

The story line is great and the actors and actresses are beautiful and talented. The end was depressing though and sad. But in total a 5 star review is in order. I loved this movie so much when I rented it On Demand that I had to find the DVD. Thank you for such a great product!

Erotic. Exactly what we were looking for. Would love to find more like this.

This was painful. Softcore at best and the production value was that of what a monkey could make. If you buy this, have lots of hard liquor on hand.
