The handle on the lid does get hot so use a rag when lifting the lid, but the handle on the pot stays rather cool, but you should always use a rag or some kind of protection any way. A dry rag is always a better insulator than a wet rag. A good cook is always cautious with all cooking ware. If you're using a flame or high heat turn it off before moving the pot. Safety first. There's more to being a good cook than just recipes.

does a magnet stick to this pan, i see conflicting info about it working with induction

I have been cooking on an induction unit for nearly 10 years, I have several stainless steel saucepans. It doesn't matter if the sides, handles, and lids will not attract a magnet. It ONLY matters that the BOTTOM of the pot or pan is magnetic. Induction heats the bottom of the cookware only. The heat from the bottom is then transferred up the sides, handle, and lid...and the food. Most stainless steel pots now have a bottom that is aluminum sandwiched between the steel on the outside and the steel on the bottom of the pot. in steel. The aluminum provides for a more even heat (stainless steel is not a good conductor of heat, but aluminum is), and the steel that encases it allows the electromagnetism of the induction unit generate heat. High nickel/austenitic stainless steel will work on induction units, but not very well because the nickel blocks the magnetic properties, but all steel has some amount of nickel in it. The consumer who said their Calphalon tri-clad cookware doesn't work with induction might have an older set of cookware. In 2010, Calphalon redesigned the that cookware to make it induction-safe.

There is not a big difference between 1 and 1.5qts. You might not notice it in a picture and they may even have used the same picture!

Does this work well with induction ?

I haven’t seen any discoloration, warping, or scratches, and the pot feels thick and well-constructed.It’s supposed to be dishwasher safe, but I usually hand wash it so it’s ready to use again right away — and cleanup is quick and easy. I’d absolutely repurchase this brand in other sizes now that I know how solid the quality is.Highly recommend if you're looking for a reliable, budget-friendly stainless steel pot for everyday use!

Sturdy pan

This is my favorite out of the four brands I’ve tried. Easy to clean, scratch resistant, durable and has a “no spill” lip, so liquids pour out easy! 10/10 will be replacing my other pots with this brand as well.

Love the pan!

I'm in the process of replacing my pans with plastic and I have a wonderful old set of Reverware that they don't make anymore. But the handles are all plastic and while they will last a million years, I don't want any plastic in my kitchen. So I bought a set of stainless steel pans, but needed to supplement the smaller sizes, which I use more of. I bought one of the 1 quart and 1 of the 2-quart pans. This Cuisinart 1-quart pot is built to last. It's heavy, and will endure all my cooking nightmares. It's dishwasher safe, which is a must for me. It's 3 cups and has a very light measuring gauge inside which I can barely see, and am sure will rub off in time. The lid is not glass, but metal and is very sturdy as well. Completely happy with this purchase. The pictures are of the 1-quart and 1-quart side by side.
