Columbia Men's Discontinued Ascender Softshell Jacket

Let me start off by saying I bought one of these jacket about 4 years ago at belk but in black. I pretty much wear it all the time and it still looks great! I decided to buy the same jacket but in grey since I love my other one so much but couldn't find it anywhere except here on amazon. I'm so glad I found it and ordered it. This jacket is exactly like the other one I have. Both are soft shell, Both repel water, and both keep you nice and warm. The quality of the jacket is great! I haven't had any loose threads, holes, or stitches coming off and I've had this second one for almost a year now. I'm 5" 11' about 200 pounds I usually wear a large but I went with a medium and it fits me just right. If you want the jacket to be a bit more loose I would go a size up. My only comment would be that I wish it had a pocket on the inside but that's it. Overall great jacket, great price, would 100% recommend and buy again.

Comfortable, looks sleek and prestigious. The size is perfect for me (I took L and I’m 183 lb. 5,11”). It’s light and thin so it won’t fit for days colder than 50-55 degF, it has thin fleece layer that does the job for such weather. It’s good for light rain or drizzle and it blocks some wind.Overall it’s perfect for my needs and the for the local weather. Highly recommended.

Awesome jacket! I was on the fence about whether to buy it - so glad that i did. The fit is awesome, even with the sleeves (I'm on the tall side). The soft shell material is really neat and appears to be waterproof. Also, the jacket is warm for something as light as it is, and looks great. I really can't say a bad word about it. Also, the prices here on Amazon for these jackets are pretty competitive compared to what I've seen elsewhere. As an added bonus, Amazon got it here a day early and just in time to wear on a weekend trip!UPDATE: Nine years after buying my original jacket - I lost it. I looked high and low, and looked at other jackets in various stores, and couldn't find anything I liked better, so days shy of the 10th anniversary of buying my first (I'm not that good on memory - I consulted my 2014 orders list) I ordered a second. It's just a nice as my first one! The only thing different I notice is that I think it seems slightly larger than my first one. It fits me just a bit looser (which is actually good since I'm a few pounds heavier than a decade ago). I think sizes are getting bigger across the board, and Columbia may be doing that, too. The quality is just the same. If I lose this one I'll buy a third!

This product is great for my work. I work outside all day on the Airfield and I deal with all kinds of elements high winds, rain, cold days, Etc and this sweater keeps me warm and dry and it's not too thick so I don't get too hot while wearing it and the the cuffs are velcro strap adjustable, just perfect for my situation to keep me warmer it gives me a tighter fit at the wrist the waist area can also be made Tighter by pulling on a string to give you more closure at your waist and the product is made of good material it does not have a hoodie but overall is still a great product it has a strong and durable feel to it I got the black color and it looks great on me I have a co-worker that has the same product and navy blue or a very dark blue but he enjoys this sweater very much as well he even told me that he has another one exact same model just in different color I might even buy myself another and different color as well I highly recommend this product

First off, I'm 6'5" (1.96 m), 200 lbs (91 kg) and have an athletic build. I ordered size Large Tall.The Fit: The fit is reasonably good. The shoulders fit very well, the chest has enough room. The body length is good and this is the first jacket I've had in a long time where the sleeves are sufficiently long. The sleeves also are large enough to be comfortable moving around. The mid-section doesn't fit as well. Like many tall sized clothes, the assumption seems to be that if you're tall you must also be big. It would be nice if it came in an inch or two from the chest to just above the waist. This isn't as bad when wearing a sweatshirt or sweater, but when just wearing a t-shirt or dress shirt it is almost too big. I decided to keep it anyway because it's hard to find a tall jacket that is tall enough, and even though the mid-section is big, it doesn't look worse for it.Features: This is what you would expect from a softshell jacket. It is warm enough to work for temps just below freezing, maybe lower if you layer. It is not as wind resistant as I expected, but isn't bad. I haven't tried it in the rain yet. The pockets are large and insulated, so they will keep your hands warm.Overall it's a solid jacket. It is more comfortable than the LL Bean jacket it replaced, and $40 cheaper.

I had an old Columbia outer layer coat that I wore over my fleece. It was past its prime!I bought this one and was blown away by the quality. The fabric is soft and looks fantastic. The inner lining makes it comfortable and viable as an outer layer by itself. The fit is almost perfect ... the sleeves are 1" too long, but that is not Columbia's fault.A huge upgrade from my old one, which served me well for almost 20 years. A testament to the Columbia quality.
