So cute and interactive - children will love it!
I am a huge fan of FurReal Friends - the toys are so well-thought-out and designed. This is a large puppy who is the next best thing to a real live dog! Children can have hours of fun playing with him - it's a truly interactive experience. I also enjoy playing with Ricky the Puppy - even after everyone else has gone to bed!!

Will have a happy child, and I was happy it was cheaper than other places.
This is for my daughter for a present so she hasn't looked yet, but I have had a look and it is soft and sturdy. They are completely overpriced in the shop so decided I'd get the one which said German as it was a bit cheaper, however, it isnt any different to the ones in the shops, packaging exactly the same. So I was pleased with my purchase and I know my daughter will love it.

Expensive but very great fun
This is absolutely darling! Controlled by battery it seems this will do anything a dog will do, (except give love!). It barks, wags its tail, treats that you feed it, and then they poop out the other side! If you want to keep this all in one piece you will really have to look after the dog treats as they are very easily Lost by children who don't realise they are an important part of this toy. It's pretty big dog, and being of solid construction is also quite heavy for little ones. This created a lot of excitement buy my nephew's who are 4 and 6. I think it's a really wonderful toy and I have no doubt your children would love it. The only thing I would baulk at it is the price! It's an awful lot of money for an automated toy, but I guess if it's a treat for Christmas and you can afford it.... Overall I think this is a good time with good construction and quality. A really lovely little furry Friend for children if you can afford it.

Worth 10 stars - but don't forget to buy batteries!
Nicholas and his two girl cousins absolutely loved this Puppy. They had hours of fun playing with him and there were lots of laughs and giggles. The Puppy licks and barks and gives a paw. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to understand strong accents as my Spanish friend couldn't get him to give a paw, but all the native English speakers were successful. The most fun as far as Nicholas was concerned was the digestion process - where the Puppy eats little treats and then poops them out later. This caused absolute hysterical laughter from all the kids. A great toy that was really entertaining for the kids (age range 2 - 8) . Would recommend to anyone with young kids who love animals. And don't forget the batteries!! 4 x 1.5v C alkaline batteries required.

Very cute but also very expensive
On arrival, I was a bit surprised at quite how big this toy is - somehow I had expected it to be a bit smaller. However, it has an extremely cute face and I would defy any child not to like it. It does not come with a full list of instructions for the 100 or so action combinations so this is all a matter of trial and error and we certainly haven't found them all yet. It is quite convincing as a dog - my own pet dog barks at it constantly and has tried to steal the bone! I had expected that it would be able to sit on command and also to walk, but it does neither. It is also quite solid - I think some children would prefer a more flexible cuddly toy. The activities it performs are engaging, but I think they are more limited than expected in view of the cost and the three star rating reflects this.

Paws up
Wow this is adorable It’s cute, it’s cuddly , responsive and mile away for the yappy , stuff puppy toys I was offered as a kid. Hasbro make the best pet toys and having owned several in the last 20 years , this is the best puppy one I have ever had. It’s very responsive, with head movements, vocals and even gives high fives ( which hasn’t the kids in stitches ) . The nice thing about it is it try’s to be more realistic , it’s softer to hold and When you feed it and it also poops. Not as smelly as the real thing but I think this is an ideal place to get kids used to a real puppy and some responsibility. It’s been a huge hit with the kids and gets carried about everywhere, I would say ideal for kids about 5 upwards . Perfect if they want a dog and no doubt is going to be a real bestseller this Christmas . My only problem is I want one too, but once the kids go to bed, you can give Ricky some snacks and get some high fives too. Worth every penny if you ask me ,

Irresistibly engaging and highly interactive toy with lifelike behaviour and sounds
I've been testing 'Ricky' on two 5-6 year olds and am not ashamed to admit that I've spent many fun hours alone playing with him myself. He's actually quite captivating even for adults and I caught my husband (55) also offering the pup his bone, giving a nose-rub and being rewarded with a high-five but I'm not allowed to mention it in this review. The 5-6 year olds absolutely loved Ricky. He sits 40cm tall and can also stand or lay down which requires moving his legs by two-clicks to the standing position but cannot move by himself (surprisingly) and does not walk. While sitting, standing or laying he will adopt various movements including waggling his ears, tail, shuffling his paws, raising his right paw for a high-five or paw-shake, lick his paws while laying and makes a number of quite realistic noises including panting, snuffling, whines, barks, howls, he can even bark several tunes and I'm sure I heard him sneeze?! Calling his name loudly and close to him will yield another lifelike interactive response. If left unattended without any fuss, he'll snore for a short time with his eyes closed then fall silent and remain still until woken by pressing on his right paw. When the supplied bone is placed on his nose, he'll toss it and catch it in his mouth and pants then drops it rather like a real dog tossing it back to his owner when wanting to play. The panting and whining can be accompanied by slurping noises, more panting, head movements and eye-rolling, again replicating a real pup wanting to play. The kids loved it and I admit that when I left him beside me on my office desk I found myself responding with his bone. Pleasingly, his noises are quite realistic, not over-loud and certainly wouldn't be heard in the next room so he's not one of those annoying toys going to drive parents up the wall in despair, or any frustrated parents could remove his batteries to keep him quiet. He is quite a charming and highly interactive and responsive toy although not a soft cuddly toy with his hard plastic body containing the animatronic mechanisms beneath his coat. His plush coat is soft and children (and adults) enjoy stroking him being rewarded by low whines, grunts, snuffles and maybe a high-five too. A rub of both cheeks or his upper lip is rewarded by licks, a quick press of his right paw demands a paw-shake or a 3-second press makes him pant and whine. Feeding treats is rewarded by munching, slurping then excited panting sounds and rubbing just above his tail makes him poo, whereby the treats are expelled together with some wind and a relieved sigh which went down a treat with both the younger children and rather older 50+ kids too... The feeding is well thought out and especially appealing to children with their activity being rewarded by slobbery noises then a fart when they are pooped out. Also the supplied 'treats' look just like real dry dog food nuggets and if a finger is inserted into his mouth then it is eagerly licked encouraging children to interact with him further. His throat, which is realistic shaped, is too narrow for the bone to slip down ensuring this cannot be accidentally fed. I have only one negative comment - his power source. He is powered by 4 x 'C' batteries fitted into a compartment between his hind legs which is accessed by pulling apart his Velcro-fastening coat, unscrewing the battery compartment and then inserting 4 x 'C' batteries which are not supplied, nor is a screwdriver. I can imagine some households not being prepared with a pack of batteries which will lead to inevitable disappointment. But, today when most gadgets are rechargeable and more powerful 18650 batteries readily available along with USB charging - why is Ricky not rechargeable? It defies consumer logic and also makes him quite expensive to run if played with heavily or regularly - as is the case here in our household. Although alkaline batteries are recommended for better performance, Ricky does have an appetite so we're now using rechargeable batteries rather than reduce playing times. But for the fact he is so lovable and fun, I would normally have deducted a star for such an oversight but we're all too smitten with him to even consider this. Maybe a later version will be rechargeable and it would be wonderful to see his chest rise suggesting he's sleeping while he recharges - are you reading this, Hasbro? Ricky is a complete delight and has charmed our household, young and not-so-young alike and I like the fact that the more attention Ricky receives, the more he responds so children's interaction with him is rewarded by licks, contented murmurs or farts depending on the type of attention given to him. I'm confident he would be a wonderful addition to any household with children aged about 4-8, particularly households which would love to have a dog or puppy but it isn't practical due to work commitments, space, illness or disability or unwilling landlords. Very highly recommended and we're smitten with him. A very easy five stars earned, although he is expensive when full price.
