JOHN DEERE Farm Pond Fish Adventure Fishing Game, Ages 4 and Up

Got this as a Christmas gift. My daughter used scarfs and string to pretend to fish. So we got her this and she loves it. It comes with 5 little fish and the fishing pole is very sturdy. Uses magnets to catch the fish and has cute sound effects. John deer brand just makes it cute. Must buy.

My 3 years old son really loves this fishing rod. It makes fishing sounds and a little song. Seem to be a quality toy up to now.I gave 4 stars because I'm a little dissapointed that the reel doesn't work like a real one. It doesn't stop all the way up when you're bringing it back. It stops 4 inchs before the end of the rod and then goes back the other way. But it's just a toy and it prevent kids from turning too much and breaking something.

I bought this for my grandson's second birthday. He needed help for the first year but absolutely loved to play with it. He loves the song and gets it out frequently. It is very durable as he has used the pole as a sword a number of times. The magnetic fish are fun to catch. He is three now and a pro at catching fish. Great toy for little ones!

The 2 years and up children will really like this product if my grandchildren are any measure. The magnets on the end of the hook and on the fishes mouths are what allow the younger children to be successful without having to make more difficult hook to mouth alignments with purely mechanical fishing poles and fish. I found the magnets slightly weaker than I like and was able to place a strong refrigerator magnet next to both the mouths and the hook to make the magnetic attraction slightly stronger. This is a useful tip should the magnets become shocked from being thrown or swung sharply against a rigid surface. Weaker magnets are not as shock resistant as strong magnets. Strong magnets can pose a safety issue for children, especially if swallowed, so the magnets in this set seem ideal for children. The magnets are very well captured in sufficiently thick plastic and the parts are too large for children to ingest in my opinion.

This is definitely not worth what I paid. It only reels up half way and then unreels. It fell apart within days. You have to get the hook end with the magnet right on the fish in order for it to pick them up and that is hard for little ones to do. Shoot it's semi difficult for me. Anyway the sounds are cool. And the idea is cool but I would not buy it again or recommend it for my friends.

This is a cute rod but for my 4yr old it was not able to stay functional. After about 4 uses it no longer pulls the string back into the rod. Very nice idea just did not work for us

My grandson is 3 and wanted to go "fishing". We started with the stick and string, but he couldn't catch the paper fish. So, we bought a cheap magnetic set at a dollar store. Magnets never worked.....it wouldn't even stick to the refrigerator. So, I saw this John Deere and bought it. He LOVES it. He loves the sounds and the magnets work so well. He always "catches" something. We now have bought him magnetic letter and numbers, so he also fishs for them and is learning her ABCs and numbers too. Like the old saying goes......"nothing runs like a Deere". Highly recommend it. Quality is there and price was worth it.

We got this for my son for his 4th birthday and it never did wind very well if at all. But today, 2 days after he got it, he and his little sister (2 years old) were playing with it and wrapped the cord around his neck a few times in the hallway. Then they wrapped it around my bedroom door. He called out for daddy saying that he was tangled up, but didn't say it was around his neck or that he was in serious trouble... he just kept trying to get it off. then daddy came out of the bedroom and pulled the door open, dragging our son by the neck, essentially hanging him! We thank God we found him in time and that it didn't cut through his skin (nearly did though)... but it hurt him really bad and left a thick welt and red burn all the way around his neck. It could have been so much worse and I'm terrified now! please skip this toy. I wanted to post pictures of his neck but I can't figure out how to do that on here.

A great little pretend fishing rod, will be great to help my grandson with his coordination and special awareness skills.

Really good looking product, with fun sounds. My kids liked it, but the rod only winds in one direction. The line goes all the way out and then automatically winds in again after you get to the end of the line. This initially frustrated my kids and now they don't really bother winding the line at all. Otherwise, they have a lot of fun with it.

Product is exactly as described. Very pleased with quality and arrived within 2-3 days

Perfect gift for any child. Makes for a good outdoor toy as well.
