Is there enough rigidity to lay into ceiling grid vs. gluing?

These tiles would not fit into a standard ceiling grid. And after a period of time, the tiles actually started melting, and I have had to uninstall them from my ceiling and throw them away. I would not give this product a positive review.

Can this be used over furing strips? ,and is it tongue and groove?

I do not recommend this as it limits surface contact for the tiles and they are very light-weight which i believe would lead to sagging.

can you put over studs that are insulated?

You will need to put drywall (or something similar) up first - these are way too flimsy to put on studs

Can these go over popcorn ceilings?

Yes as long as the popcorn isn’t excessive. Only the edges contact the ceiling
