Great Product
I used these doors for something that they were not intended for (as I had seen my father do many years ago). I remodeled my kitchen and moved a range that was built into the cabinet and countertop to a place where the refrigerator used to be. I wanted a large refrigerator and in the late 1970s they were smaller. I stained the shutters a color that (almost) matched my cabinets and used the two shutter to fill the opening. They were PERFECT. After adding a new top for that portion of the countertop and installing a double trash can sliding bin, it completed the space. I then used ceramic tile to tile all of the countertops and create a backsplash. These shutters are lightweight, yet extremely sturdy and easily accepted the hinges I had to use to match my older cabinets. I would recommend these shutters to anyone for almost any purpose. Please note much of this company's products are made to order. An additional weeks wait is well worth the quality!

customer service
I ordered two sets of these shutters and got them maybe 3 weeks later. Craftsmanship is outstanding and price very reasonable. I did have a problem with the 45" set which came in unprimed, not as ordered. I called Ekena Millwork and they noted the mishap, didn't ask that I return anything, and just sent a new set. I couldn't duplicate the beautiful factory prime finish job with a brush, that's for sure. And the protective packaging they use was very impressive. You will not have shipping damage with these shutters. Initially a small hiccup but an outstanding recovery on a great product. Bravo!

Exceptional Woodwork!
I was so pleased to open these up. They were professionally packed. The woodwork was clean and precise. They still had some sawdust on them. I wish I had taken some pictures before I started priming them. I picked one up and snapped a photo of the underside before finishing the prime. I hope it does it justice. Even though I gave the EASY TO INSTALL and LIGHTWEIGHT five stars each, they're 100% solid wood, not lightweight plastic. Also, the level of ease is dependent on how you'll be installing them. Mine will have a higher difficulty rating because I'm installing them with working traditional shutter harware. If your just nailing them up, then that would be simple. Whomever cut and assembled these, Thank You!!

I thought fine, I'll make it
When my wife said she wanted shutters for a window, I thought fine, I'll make it. Pretty easy project. I am a very experienced woodworker and make furniture and many other things. However, she wanted the shutters to have louvers. I've never done louvers before, so I tried to convince her to choose another style. She wanted louvers. I didn't want to get a jig for just on set of louvers, so I saw these and ordered them. They are extremely well made. They are made exactly as I would have. They are made of pine, and if I were to make them I would use an Rainforest wood like Jatoba or Sapele to better stand up to the elements. I'm not a fan of softwoods. They painted up great - I used an oil based semi-gloss. And now my wife wants a pair for another window. Maybe I might need that jig after all.

Absolutely beautiful
I needed to cover a small odd-sized opening into a crawl space with a ventilated door. I spent several weeks and searched all over and went through quite a few different ideas until I was finally lucky enough to find these. These are solid, high quality doors. I had to frame and trim the opening, and attach hinges. I am very pleased with the result! I've recieved numerous compliments. I will eventually add hardware and paint them when I repaint the rest of my basement.

A great use for these!
We had central air installed in our home and in the family room, two white vent covers were used. We did not like the look of the white when the room is hardwood so we got these. We then removed the vent covers and and used these and we are most pleased with the ease of installation and the fact it works great!

Shutters good, painted finish not so good
The overall construction is great. They came in the correct size, consistent painted appearance etc. I ordered black. The problem was with rain. I added copper shutter caps to all of the shutters, as anyone with experience with real shutters would recommend. Also, after reading reviews of bubbling paint after rain, I had preemptively completely repainted each shutter with latex exterior paint to ensure good coverage and protection from water penetrating the wood. After the first mild rain and eventual heat during the summer (Cleveland) the wood had expanded and separated slightly at the joints of the main structure. Also, some of the louvered pieces shifted. So I touched up and by touched up i mean i tried to cover exposed wood and drip paint between the joints that got exposed to close up any possible crevices that would let water settle. I have done this twice already. I understand that there may be some maintenance since this was cheaper than going through Timberlane Shutters who wanted 15,000 for 7 pairs. I opted for these for a total of about 6,000 plus hardware and copper tops. Overall they look great and hopefully they will not need more maintenance in the near term. I already anticipate having to sand and repaint in about 5 years (from other reviews). I’m not someone who reviews but should let anyone know who might embark on this type of project since there is nothing out there for real shutters

Good Quality
My husband was very pleased with the quality and the delivery packaging. We ordered primed and painted them the color of our trim. They are a perfect match and we have received compliments for our new curbside appeal. We plan to order more for the back of the house. Far superior to vinyl shutters, which warp and fade in the sun.
