Perfect tent for week-long rainy family camping trip in mountains
**EDIT** I bought this tent for $121, now I see it's at $100 - BUY THIS TENT NOW! :)We took this tent for a week-long family car-camping trip in the Smoky mountains and it was GREAT. Here's what I think about it:1. Not recommended for 8 people - that would suck. We had 4 people with 4 twin air mattresses and it was so much more pleasant to camp in this than in smaller tents we've tried. It's nice to be able to fully stand up in the middle of the tent. Plenty of room for gear.2. It rained for 36 hours straight, and only a tiny bit of water seeped in at the very ends that aren't covered by the rain fly - but that was easy to just sop up with a towel or whatever from time to time. It wasn't very gusty though so I can't say if it would hold up well in high winds (but I imagine it would be OK). We didn't use a tarp as a footprint - just set it up and it stayed much drier than I anticipated (thank goodness).3. It got down to the low 40's at night but it didn't get crazy cold in the tent. We opened the two side windows during the day and it was perfect.4. It was very easy to set up and tear down. Just pay attention when you're setting it up to how it's folded so you can fold it up the same way and it will definitely fit back into the carrying bag very nicely. It can be confusing if you don't remember how it was folded in the first place.5. Great price! I've camped in way more expensive gear from fancy camping gear stores and besides the zipper mechanism, I have no idea why in the world the other companies get away with charging 4 times as much for their tents. This was perfect for our camping week. I think Coleman brand has come a long way since the early days of leaky tents and inferior products. I was hesitant to get this tent at first but now I'm really glad I did instead of spending a bunch of money on a fancy brand!

Big tent, easy set up
Rated for 8 people but we all know that means crammed in like sardines. We had 2 twin air mattresses, a queen air mattress and a good sized dog bed and fit nicely with space on the sides for some gear. Set up was easy, take down was easy. Tent and tent supplies never went back into the canvas tote - but I’ve never know a tent to do that anyways. We re-homed it into a military Cbag which fits nicely with extra space. Can’t say how it holds up with wind or rain, but we had a 46 degree night and it does not hold in much heat- even with the rain fly when it’s cold. Seems to be decent quality- didn’t have any manufacture defects. I do see that a zipper at the door was under tension and could wear out earlier than expected- but time will tell!Overall great roomy tent.

Excellent 8-person tent for the price
I ordered this 8-person tent (for the 4 of us) just a few days prior to our camping trip and it arrived ahead of time. However, I didn't find time to test it out at home before going camping. On the camping day we reached the camp site after it was dark and it had started raining. Luckily our friends who had already pitched their tents helped us out. It probably took about 20 minutes or so because of the darkness and rain. The tent was relatively easy to install and provided excellent rain protection once the rain-fly was installed. The good news was that no parts were missing and everything seemed to be in top condition. The original Amazon packaging was just fantastic. The build quality of the tent is excellent and it's very spacious from the inside. The external footprint also isn't too large. I used extra 10" stakes to anchor the shock-corded poles which made the construction even more solid. Even though the tent appears to be well ventilated I found it to be a little hot inside during the day. The zippered windows on the door and on the back are a nice feature. The small clothes line and the mesh pockets inside were very useful. The awning on the front door looks nice and is marginally useful, i.e., it won't be of much help if it's raining even moderately. This tent doesn't have an electric port, but we brought in the electrical cord through the front door and it worked well for us.The nights got a little chilly and we realized that this tent wouldn't protect us from the cold. So go prepared for the cold weather if you use this tent. The room dividers are nice to have but we didn't use them. The tent stakes that come in the package are basic but functional. You'll need additional stakes if you want your tent well secured. The tent looks really attractive from the inside and out. The polyethylene floor is tough and looks pretty solid. We still put a tarp under it just to ensure that the stones below didn't poke through the floor. Taking down the tent was a 10 minute job, however, I wasn't able to fit the tent in the original bag. All in all, I think the form and function of this tent is more than worth the price you pay for it.
