3M 02088 Trizact Hookit 6" P1500 Grit Clear Coat Sanding Disc, (Box of 25)

The stiff skin of this paper is a game changer! Awesome at cutting orange peel on a paint job. This stiff skin is unique to this product and would be appreciated on all other 3M trizact paper they sell but am thrilled with it performance and outstanding durability.

This wet sanding material reduces my final finish sanding time by 2/3rds and saves me up to fifteen sheets of dry sanding paper for the same job. so more cost effective while significantly saving labor time. One sheet of this paper used wet is able to final sand two to three entire guitar bodies while dry sanding paper of the same grit took 12-15 sheets for one guitar. Excellent product. I use it with my Festool RO sander with no problems whatsoever.

I completed my 1st paint job on a 2005 Mercedes SLK 350. I did all of my wet sanding using a Hutchins DA (No burn throughs thank god). I started with 3m Trizact 1500, 3m Trizact 3000, and Trizact 5000. I then came back with a buffer and Chemical Guys V36 & V38 compound. I will definately be ordering these again for any auto paint project in the future.

This product is pricey. Very pricey. It is typical 3M pricey. That is the only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars. It does however stay sharp much longer than your typical "polishing" papers. Especially the DA sanding papers. If you are polishing a well cured paint job, or a gel coat like on a boat, then this paper is your ticket. It will cost a bundle but it will also save you time and energy.

Works well when wet sanding. Material does not get locked in. The hook and lock securely holds the disc to the sander with no slippage while working.

This is the key to color sanding aka cut & buffing orange peel on clearcoat. New paint jobs only! Start here, with the 1500, then use Trizact 3000, then 5000. From there it's almost just a Polish away from high gloss. A quick shot with ultimate compound and a red pad and it's perfect.
