Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens, Black - 2963C002

After one year using it i can definitely say this is a great lens for traveling, is not that heavy, the autofocus is great, and it provides a great value for the price.

I took the plunge and purchased a Canon mirrorless camera (R6 Mk2). It came with a 24-105 kit lens. I've had a crop camera 'forever', and was concerned whether this lens arrangement would deliver the focal length I needed. Took it out of the box and straight onto a two week cruise vacation. Yes, there were times when I wanted a little bit longer reach, but for a very high percentage of the shots I composed, this lens did the trick. So, when I got back, I made the logical step to upgrade to the better quality lens. The upgrade has a little wider F stop at the low end, slightly larger lens body, and definitely can tell the difference in clarity. Only wish I would have made the choice before buying the kit lens. Would have saved me some $$$ in the long run.

This lens is a great all-around lens. It's suitable for landscape photography, portraits, weddings, etc. Great value for the money! f4 is fine in most cases. If you want more bokeh, I would suggest a prime lens. But you already knew that :)

This RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens has superb sharpness across all f stops (edges a little soft at f4, but to be expected), focuses extremely quickly and accurately, and is a perfect size for a travel lens. The fixed f4 at all lens lengths is a plus. The lens does extend when changing lens lengths, but a lock button prevents it from extending while being carried. On compositions involving overcast sky and water, the lens did fail to achieve autofocus, but these were rare instances overall. I am a little disappointed in the construction. It feels light and made of plastic. I have no idea how well it will withstand long term use. But performance wise, I have no complaints. It is advertised and sold as an L lens, but the L does not appear on the lens itself. The L does not appear even on the picture of the lens posted on the Canon site. This causes some concern as to whether it has all of the assumed L quality features. But so far, I am very satisfied with the lens and happy with the purchase.

The RF 24-105 F4 L is a good lens. Like all of the new RF lenses, the RF 24-105 F4 L gets high marks for aesthetics. It looks great. And it feels solid and smooth in use. The tapered zoom ring makes it easy to find by feel. The customizable control ring makes it easy to control a setting of your choice. (I find it useful as a quick way to adjust white balance when shooting video. I have it set to control other things when shooting stills.) Auto focus is fast and relatively silent. No complaints at all. In terms of image quality, the RF 24-105 F4 L is arguably the best zoom available with this zoom range. The Sony 24-105 F4 is close and may be better in some respects. The Nikon F-mount equivalent is not close though there is a Z-mount 24-105 on Nikon's roadmap that is likely to be very good when it is eventually released. That said, the RF 24-105 F4 L is not perfect. It is consistently sharp in the center across its zoom range. It is noticeably less so in the corners. This comes with the territory when designing a 24-105 lens so it is hard to complain too much. The RF is at least as good, if not better, than the competition in this respect. Bokeh is decent. No complaints there either. The one characteristic that I find unacceptable is longitudinal chromatic aberration. (To be clear, this is not the easy-to-correct lateral CA that is often seen around tree branches in the corner of images.) It is most visible toward the long end of the zoom range. I've never shot with a lens before where LoCA was noticeable enough to be objectionable but it can be with this lens. Photograph white text on a black background at 105mm and expect to see purple bokeh in one direction and amber bokeh in the other. It is hard to believe that Canon considers this acceptable but two separately sourced copies of the lens exhibited the same issue. (To my surprise, Canon's higher end RF 24-70 F2.8 L seems to have the same problem.) Fortunately, high contrast black and white images shot at 105mm are a worst case scenario. In most shooting situations, LoCA is not a noticeable problem. What is a problem is buying photo gear from Amazon. I feel compelled to record unboxings for *every* Amazon order that includes an expensive camera body or lens. I do this because it seems like every year there is a story about someone ordering high-end camera gear from Amazon and finding a brick inside the box instead of a body or lens. To be fair, I've never had this problem personally, but I did experience something almost as bad with the RF 24-105. In what marks a new low in shipping standards, Amazon shipped my RF 24-105 to me in an unpadded envelope. Three of the manufacturer box's corners were bashed in. It had clearly been dropped at least twice. I love Amazon in general but order your cameras and lenses from a company that knows the proper way to package them. The bottom line is that the RF 24-105 is a good lens that I do recommend but it falls just a little short of the image quality I'm getting from my other RF L-Series zooms. Overall, Canon is to be commended for their lightweight F4 L series of lenses that combine a relatively small, lightweight form factor with high IQ. For whatever reason, other manufacturers (some more than others) seem unwilling or unable to maintain a commitment to top quality optics in a zoom that isn't F2.8. This characteristic of the Canon lens system—both EF and now RF—is a solid reason to go with Canon's new mirrorless R system over another brand.

Best lens for daily use, I use it as main lens the quality is awesome, nice focus descent weight.

Do it!! Do it now. This lens is so sharp, bright, beautiful, rich, autofocus is ridiculously fast (while being crazy-accurate). Don’t delay — this bad boy gets done things you wouldn’t imagine until you slap it on your camera. I’m using a canon EOS R6 mkii & also a canon EOS R50. Make sure you buy a chinstrap so you won’t spend the next few years 🤤 Incredible. The SOB is gorgeous

Si vous possédez une version antérieur tel que le ef 24-105mm f4 is usm mark 1 ou mark cet version est absolument inutile. Et pour ceux qui voudraient faire l'acquisition d'un objectif sur cette focal . Le ef 24-105mm f4 is usm meme le mark 1 fait presque jeux égale avec celui ci . La qualité optique pur et dur ce joue sur du détail, des bords a peine plus riche en détails, sur un capteur 24mpx la différence sera vraiment nul , probablement plus perceptible sur un 33 ou 45mpx. La seul vrai différence c'est l'efficacité de la stabilisation et l'autofocus qui est a peine mieux mais rien de choquant. Un ef 24-105mm f4 is usm mark 1 d'occasion garantie 1an coûte entre 250e et 350euro soit 1000euro de moins et vous donnera entière satisfaction dans 95% des situations. Et avec cette différence il est possible de ce faire plaisir sur d'autres focals. Beaucoup d'objectif en rf sont juste de légères améliorations de leurs prédécesseurs en ef .

Not much to say about this excellent lens. Good improvements on the EF version (EF 24-105 mm f/4L, Mark I). A good choice for an all-round lens if budget permits.

普段はRF24-70が標準になっていますが、 先日、荷物を軽くしたかったので、このレンズを持ち出しました。 いい色で綺麗な孫の写真が撮れました。 携帯カメラでは、決して撮れない品質の写真でした。 さすが L を付けているレンズだと、改めて実感致しました。 旅行などの遠出に持って行くには、最良のレンズの1本だと感じました。
