I was looking for a lactose-free protein, so decided to go with the Pea protein. However, I do not like the taste or texture of this protein. The smell and flavor is strong, but not of vanilla. (Not sure what I’m tasting.) It’s gritty, does not mix well in shakes or recipes, and you need two scoops of pea protein to make up for the protein provided in one scoop of a whey protein. I ended up purchasing some lactose-free beef protein from another source which is much better. One other thing I noticed is I put mine in a ceramic jar and for some reason there’s an almost magnetic attraction between the ceramic and this protein, which I’m not sure if it is static or what, but it kind of weirded me out. I’ve tried pea protein powder from a few other companies, from unflavoured to several flavours. I was intrigued to try this brand, with its minimal ingredients and use of real sugar which is so rare, and liked the fact that the macros were good and comparable to the otehr brands as well. I put this in my morning smoothie (with half a banana, spinach and dry rolled oats) and was honestly blown away. The taste surpassed my expectations - the level of sweetness was just right (the stevia ones as a bit too sweet for me) and the vanilla flavour tasted like vanilla bean rather than a very artificial vanilla. It also blended well. I’m a big fan and will be buying again

I bought this item for the high concentration of protein (25g) and the total lack of artificial sweeteners. I have not found a protein powder that has found a way to get rid of that nasty gritty texture, but it was nice to find one without chemically altered sugars. My gripe was my container didn't have the 25 grams of protein that it had advertised but only 17 grams. I thought I had made a mistake so I went back to look again, and NO it was NOT an error on my behalf. So buyer beware.

It's amazing at what it does but I just don't recommend the vanilla flavor it doesn't have a taste even though it smells good I added one of my sweeteners to give it more taste but overall a good protein powder!

For some context, my only experience with protein powder before this has been Aldi’s chocolate flavor and Alani Nu’s Cinnamon Buns, both of which are very sweet and heavily flavored. I am not a health or fitness nut and I am not on a diet - I just work on my feet all day and want to make sure I am doing an okay job feeding my body. I had grown to dislike the taste of artificial sweetener so I wanted something with cane or coconut sugar and this brand seemed well-loved so I ordered some. When I opened it, it smelled nice - like vanilla. So I fished out the scoop and shook it in my blender bottle with the recommended amount of water and had a sip. Let me tell you - it tastes FOUL. Not like vanilla. Not sweet. It tastes like a fistful of some sort of dried pea from another planet. It startled me. But listen I know that it is nice quality and that it’s simple for a reason and I am going to make it work. I’m gonna try adding some sugar like someone mentioned and see if I can use up this jar. After it’s gone, I’m back in the market for something that tastes decent.
