Excellent value
I give the box 5 stars so far. Just received it today and it is working just fine after an activation process that was more involved than what I had hoped for.Even though I have been a Vonage customer for ten years, just plugging it in and connecting it did not result in an active phone. Apparently, this is the result of having bought the box from a retailer. Vonage v-configuration site did not recognize or accept my account user name and password nor my phone number -as user name- and password.I had to go to Vonage online chat, give them the MAC address and they bumped it from there. Took about five minutes of waiting for blinking lights and then doing a power reset for the the box to activate. What I like about the router/modem is its small footprint with an attractive color design. Also like the easily visible blue lights on the front. My old box had one green light on it's top that could not be seen unless i was standing right over it.Have used my phone several times this evening with good clear voice quality at the receiver and no problems at all.Purchase was a great value @ $20, used or re-furbished, (compared to Vonage price of $80 for a new box), including shipping. Doesn't have the clean look of a new unit but has no visible scratches or damage of any kind.

Be very careful
After 10+ years my adaptor stopped working. It was a good run and when it “died” I quickly ordered another from Amazon. As it turns out Vonage will not allow me to use this device. They require I order an adaptor through them and once received and I am billed for it have to request a refund. Wow!! Amazon should insist on large warning signs for these devices, buyer beware, this might not work for you. Or stop selling them altogether. I have been a Vonage customer for over 10years the service was always just ok. Although I often thought about changing service providers it was never very high on my priority list, as my phone service just worked. Because of this experience vonage has lost a customer and I suspect many others are having similar experiences.

Good replacement for my old original Vonage Router/Adapter
I had a very old Lynksys router/phone adapter that Vonage sent when I signed up a number of years ago. It seem that for the last couple years it would for some reason drop the phone and you'd have to do the unplug and replug thing to get the dial tone back. I thought I would replace it with the VDV22 or a newer one out there. I got this one which appears to be one series behind the most recent one (not sure) but the price was good. It works great and no lost dial tones or need to reset since I installed it. I has to call Vonage to add the device id but that was a minor task which they handled on the phone.

Works Great - You Need to Contact Vonage When Activating It If You Have Existing Service
My 10 year old Linksys VOIP router that I originally received with my Vonage service started to perform poorly. There was a lot of static on the line and I could barely hear the person I was talking to (and they couldn't hear me either). Annoyed by this, I went on the hunt for a new router. This little unit did the trick. My calls are crystal clear again. Unfortunately, Vonage's information for getting this activated (as a replacement, not a new activation) are UNBELIEVABLY POOR. Good lord, their website will run you in circles and make you crazy. They make it sound like you should be able to do everything on your own but you can't. The instructions in the box for getting it wired up are fine. Follow them exactly. One nice thing about this unit is that it is self-diagnostic. Once you have it wired up, pick up your phone and listen to the little voice telling you if you got it correct or not. But when it tells you that it may take several minutes to activate, don't believe it. Immediately get on the phone with Vonage...or better yet, start up an IM/chat session with customer service. You will need the 'MAC Address' number that is located on the bottom of the unit. Tell Vonage you are installing a new adapter and that you need them to activate the MAC Address. They will ask you for the MAC Address number and in less then 10 minutes my system was working again.

Buyer beware. Device may be invalid for Vonage Service
I bought this device as a replacement for one lost during a move. The device may not work with Vonage service. In my case the device was already attached to another account, which owed money to Vonage. Therefore I could not use it for my service. I called Vonage and they made me a deal on a device. I have been a Vonage customer for a long time. I should have called them first. But I was just in the habit of using Amazon. Amazon was great with a return but still kind of a pain.

Having been a Vonage customer for over 10 years, ...
Having been a Vonage customer for over 10 years, I have had more than one hardware set. This one does not perform as well as older models. It interferes with networking as well.If you follow the Vonage guidelines and hook this into your router, and your PC into this device then it interferes with PC to PC (or printer) communication. If you follow Vonage's original method of connecting your router into this device None of the downstream devices are able to connect to the internet. So your only option is to connect everything into your router and abandon any hope of being able to log into the device without moving network cables. It should be a seamless integration - shame on you Vonage. I gave 2 stars because at least there is a work-around.

Vonage is less expensive & usually just as good as hard wired phone systems.
I still get some interference on my wireless phones.

It did what I expected, without any hassle.
Over about a month, my Vonage VOIP service had become non-functional. First a lack of ring on incoming calls, then random but excessive static, and finally it didn't work at all. I checked my phones, my lines, and my internet connections, and finally decided to blame the old Vonage phone adapter. I checked on Amazon, and a vendor called Benevolent Living listed one for a quarter of the cost Vonage wanted, so I bought it. The instructions were clear and straightforward, and installation was a breeze. Now the phone service is back to excellent. I only wish I'd thought to do this before I spent all that time mucking about with the house phone lines.
