I purchased another brand of L-Methionine originally for my dog. She currently has a problem with bladder stones and I wanted a safe and natural alternative to medications. I decided to purchase this product because it was the raw powder and I was opening the capsules for her anyway. I sprinkle the recommended dosage on her food and she gobbles it right up! I started taking this myself and I will say that I can tell a difference. I feel like I have more energy (extreme fatigue related to health issues is something I have a big problem with), my mood is better and it has been easier for me to make it through my (very!) stressful, and sometimes long, work days. I'm very impressed at how something so simple has made such a difference!You can't beat the price on this. I ordered the 2.2lb package and it was much larger than I was expecting it to be. I was expecting a small package with about a cup or two of powder in it. This is a very generous package, though, with enough powder to last for a while. The package itself is very sturdy and re-seals tightly so there's no chance of it coming open by accident and spilling. I would have had to spend WAY more for the same amount of Methionine in capsules as I received in this 2.2lb package. I prefer the product this way as I can actually see the quality of the powder. The flavor is a tad bitter so I wouldn't advise just taking the powder by itself. It dissolves extremely well in liquids and you don't even know it is there thanks to the flavor of whatever it is mixed with. The powder is gluten free, sugar free, contains no soy, dairy or yeast so you don't need to worry if you're on a special diet.I am extremely pleased with my purchase and will most definitely be ordering this product from BulkSupplements again. I used this to control my dog’s urine ph so she’d stop making struvite crystals & stop the non-stop constant urinary infections she was getting now that she’s aged despite all the antibiotics & vet care she was getting. I used ph paper to know how much it was changing her urine’s ph til I knew how much to sprinkle over her food every day. I can now use a sm. measuring spoon for the exact am’t it takes to keep her ph right where the vet said it needs to be (too little & it won’t work, but too much & she’ll get other kinds of stones). I do occassional ck her urine’s ph w/ the ph paper to be sure she still needs the same am’t of this every day, but I don’t have to check very often since her ph has stayed exactly right & is very stable now & I haven’t changed her dogfood either. This is so much better, cheaper, & healthier than feeding her those expensive vet prescribed prescription foods. I can keep her on her healthier food & save a whole lot of money too! This is so convenient & easy to do. But if you do this, PLEASE make sure you know what kind of crystals your pet has & what ph your pet’s urine is running, as well as what ph the vet says it needs to be so you don’t cause more harm!! Not getting all these things right will cause your pet a lot of pain & suffering & very possibly it’s life too after a whole lot of suffering. My dog will be on this for life, & this is a common problem for older female dogs.

Our male cat grey tabby Boris is 4 yrs old, we've taken him to the vet with peeing outside of the litter box and hollering before he went about a year ago. When he would go not much urine was coming out. Was put on meds from the vet, but no mention of food causing the crystals. He was fine and then recently doing the same thing. So, I researched why this happens---the cause is cat food with too much magnesium ( or a lot of minerals) including food with fish (has ground bones). I had been feeding my cats a lot of fish type pate foods. I changed his food temporarily to Forza renal kidney dry food & wet food for cats. One of the ingredients is DL-Methionine. After finishing the bag and can wet food, I switched to Dave's Restricted diet--low in magnesium with chicken & chicken liver. I also sprinkle (reviews on here) DL-methionine but I use 1/64 tsp every day in his food, also a supplement of D-Mannose for cats and I also use Immune support L-lysine on occasion. He recovered and hasn't had another bout of it, so far-- no vet visit involved, no litter box accidents as well. Also, keeping the litter box clean EVERYDAY also is a must with some cats!

I bought this as it was priced well and is needed to make your cat or dogs urine more acidic.It does not take much, at least for cats. I mix a very small dose with my cats food and she does not seem to notice.I did try it and taste funky. So if using for yourself, a human that is. May need to mix it with something else or be ready for a unique taste.
