Worth it, even for bigger kids
I have two boys ages 4 and 7. I am triathlon training and have had to come up with some creative ways to get my training in. When I realized I wanted a trailer for my bike, I marveled at the low-price ($100-200 range) options but ultimately went with the Honey Bee. I liked the stroller-conversion, the higher weight limit than competitors' models, and the Burley emphasis on safety. ASSEMBLY. I didn't have the awesome experience others did, mostly because so much of the trailer was already assembled (the instructions were written as if I'd have to do about 50% more than I actually had to do --- that was confusing, especially for someone who's never even been close to a bike trailer in real life). Burley, y'all should fix this (there were also some references to throwing away bolts/nuts that actually had to be reused...that was confusing, too). The pictures could be better, too. But the trailer is clearly very well designed and sturdy. Very impressive. It was easy to assemble once I figured out Burley had done most of the work already. SIZE/COMFORT. My boys are a combined 80 lbs, so the 100 lb weight limit was attractive. They were reasonably comfortable (it's good they're both on the smaller side), and my younger one in particular loved it! We rode for over an hour, almost 10 miles (for the record, my average speed was about 3mph slower hauling the trailer; I'm always aiming for a low heartrate on these rides). The younger one wanted to keep going. My older one is now hopefully inspired to learn to ride his bike. Their comment was that they felt like they were riding in a "racecar!" They liked the flag a lot, too. Oh, the older one had a hard time fitting in there with his helmet on. Younger one was OK. Burley is one of the few brands I saw that has a special "pocket" to allow space for kids' helmets. STORAGE CAPACITY. Amazing. I could put a few bags of groceries back there no problem (but I'd be coming right up on the weight limit if I had both kids with me). I was shocked by how big the storage compartment was. The kids enjoyed the mesh compartments in their cabin, too. Water bottles fit fine. I want to find a water bottle holder to clip to the handle bar for me to use while running, but I did OK. HANDLING. Wow, you'd never know you were hauling around 100 lbs of kid+trailer back there. I was really impressed. It was tough going up some hills, but I did it. We rode on a paved biking/walking trail, and at one point one tire fell off the edge (about a 6-12" drop) when I had to pass some walkers. I thought "this is the end!" at first, but then, hallelujah, the wheel popped back up onto the trail! I was relieved. I thought I'd have to stop and haul it back onto the trail myself, but it was fine, and there was no damage. STROLLER. I was worried that it wouldn't be a good jogging stroller, but it does great! My older child rode his scooter, and the other one rode in the stroller for a bit and scooted for a bit (the storage compartment had plenty of room to store any inactive scooters). I don't think I ever pushed them both in the same time, but it would have been fine. I'll be interested to see how the front (plastic) wheel holds up. The transition from Trailer to Stroller is unbelievably simple. Just pull on the wheel and rotate to the position you want. FOLDING. This thing collapses really well, but unfolding/setting it up takes some muscle: It was a lot harder for me to "snap together" the two rods at the top than the instructions let on. I had to really push on it, standing behind it and tilting it toward the ground for leverage. I suspect that will get easier. But anyway, I've taken the wheels on and off several times now because that's how it fits best in my car. Wheel removal couldn't be easier. SCREENS. The mesh screen and plastic cover are nice. I haven't quite figured out how to really secure those down (and the manual appears oddly silent on that issue), so I'll consult a video. They're Velcro-based closures, not zippers. We didn't use the plastic "windshield," but it stayed rolled up with no problem, and it's quite thick/sturdy. FLAG HOLDER. Another review says the flag holder is inadequate to do the job. Mine's flag holder is so sturdy, I couldn't figure out how to turn it around so the flag would face up with the handle bar in the "trailer" (as opposed to "stroller") position! So maybe they've tweaked that. (Eventually I did manage to coax the flag holder to spin to the other side.) You WILL need to put air in the tires before you use it. The tire pressure didn't even give a reading on my gauge when I tested it. But that's to be expected. Bottom line: I want to go back in time and take up cycling when the kids were 1 and 4! But I'm glad I got it, and I'm even glad I paid a premium for the "brand name." It was fun getting my brick (bike/run) workout in AND having fun with my kids at the same time, knowing that they could sit and ride if they got tired. And we had plenty of space for snacks and water and other essentials. I know I'll haul my 4-year-old around in it for a couple seasons, at least. And it'll be in great shape to re-home when they're big enough to ride alongside me.

Served us well for many years!
This trailer has served our family well, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. I think we've had ours for five or six years now, every summer and winter with daily use, two to four miles most days. Since the kids have started riding their own bikes to school it has served to carry the bikes home, which might be more abuse than this trailer was designed for. It is in that context that I write today not to complain but to commend as I offer an end-of-life performance analysis. About two years ago with lengthening legs and constant kicking and poking with sticks and toys the front of the fabric went. This is inconvenient because things now fall out of the front if we're not careful. Now as we carry kids' bikes (rear wheels inside, front wheels over the back, cover loose underneath) the top got holes too. Today the rubber gooseneck broke (where the trailer attaches to the bike), probably from a combination of age and cold. It was only about -4c today (twenties fahrenheit), but the last several weeks have seen multiple dips into minus teens (down to about 15f?) and it finally snapped. The safety strap did its job and I was able to drag the kids' bikes back with no trouble. I thought the neck had steel cable inside, but I guess not. The safety strap saved me one other time as well, when the nut that holds the entire assembly to the bike came off, so I'm grateful for this safety feature! The one thing I wish were designed differently: it would have been nice to be able to remove the fabric, both for cleaning and for replacement when it tore. Honestly it was fine though. Spot cleaning isn't that hard. I might have managed a repair too if I had cared a lot, but by then the kids were ready to ride their own bikes most days. Loved feature: it collapses pretty small pretty easily and the wheels come right off, so when we did need pickup in a car, it wasn't hard to get the trailer into the trunk. Loved feature: the trailer's own trunk has nice capacity, and has carried all we needed from shopping, for beach trips, so many playground adventures, etc. The front wheel is great, though it did sometimes come down when we didn't want it to while riding, but when you have a napping toddler inside and you can just detach the trailer from the bike and take the whole stroller into the store or wherever, that's golden. The flag and back handle are sturdy and still going strong. I've lifted the whole thing by the handle a bunch, which might not be how it was intended, but it worked. We seldom used the brake, but when we did, it always worked well. Our now heavy kids (7+10yo, who still manage to both fit!!) complain about bumpiness on the rare occasions they cram themselves in to avoid a heavier rain on the ride to school, but the suspension is great, and there were many naps when the kids were smaller. The hook and loop closures and the main hook closures are also well built, still going strong, as are the child restraints inside, and all the other essential parts. The rain cover and windows have gotten cloudy, but remain weatherproof. So: well done, Burley! We're unlikely to get a new one at this stage, but we'll keep recommending these to friends.

Great bike trailer!
This has been a great purchase! It's depicted well by the photos, the color is spot on (not that I care much). It is super easy to put together and break down for storage or transfer. Fits in the trunk of both our sedan and our mini van. Our 3 year old twins love riding in it. The straps seem comfortable enough. They're easy and quick to adjust to fit but not loose that it comes undone. I like the storage space in the back. We use it to put our portable potty and a tire pump. It's also very easy to maneuver both on the bike and pushing. Just a great all around purchase, very user-friendly.

When it comes to safety and the waterproof factor, you really want the best for your kids without spending £800+ . I'm impressed with the quality and price of this Burley Honey Bee Bike Trailer and recommend to anyone looking for one.

Great product, especially for running. If you are in a small apartment with no storage it can be cumbersome but for a morning jog my daughter and dog love going for a ride.

fantastic product. So easy to use both as stroller, jogger and trailer. I didnt find any need for purchasing the jogger wheel, works fine as is but perhaps it is because we dont mind steering every now and then.

Things I love. 1.Its easy to assemble and collapse. Although it's still pretty big when collapsed. 2. It's got pockets inside for my little ones snacks and drinks. 3. Lots of space in the back for shopping. 4. Easy to attach and detach from the bike. 5. My little one assures me that she doesn't feel the bumps when it goes over the many many potholes in the roads of my town. 6 it's an odd thing to love but I love that when the front wheel is down it prevents you from attaching to the bike. If it didn't have that I would be that person who leaves the front wheel in position and wonders why it falls off. 7. It's actually pretty nice to push as a pram. (Until you get to a curb) Don't 1. Today I left it out in the rain. Not even a heavy rain by British standards and it leaked through the roof onto my child's seat. I think this is because the material that was really tight when I first got it (one month ago) has quickly become saggy so the water pooled and dripped through. I have returned it for this reason. I am hoping for more luck with the next one. 2. my little one seems hunched over. She's fine but I wish I could adjust the seat. 3 the yellow wheel buttons come off easily 4. The handle is absolutely useless if I need to lift or push down for a curb. It just moves. If you put shopping in the boot as a pram. It tips back really easily. I have returned to amazon because of the leaky roof. Rain coming in renders it useless in the UK. I'm hoping I have more luck with the next one. If not it will also be returned and I will go for a cheaper rain proof model from a different brand.
