This is a great value purchase, with the air pump & the foil cutter. Great gift for the wine lover in your life. As cork ages over time, it disintegrates and trying to open a bottle of wine with a disintegrated cork is frustrating, problematic, and not the best situation. What winds up happening is a knife is eventually needed to cut into the cork, pushing the remains into the bottle, and straining out the cork debris as the wine is poured. This air pump injects the needle gently through the cork, the pump mechanism is actuated relatively to force air into the top of the bottle forcing the cork out carefully. It's a sensible way to deal with wine that has aged with possibly-disintegrated cork. This specific manufacture of this air pump lasted a good 60 bottles before the air pump stopped working, presumably because some kind of gasket inside the plastic failed. It's a great value for the casual wine enthusiast.

I bought this because I don't like the sound of the electronic wine opener that my wife bought after seeing her sister use one. Push it in pump at six times and it pops right out. Best value. Best idea. What more do you want?

This wine opener is perfect for opening wine bottles with corks. It is very easy!

Doesn't work, tried it on multiple wine bottles and didn't do anything. Pumped it at least 50 times on a Pinot Noir and nothing happened. The little foil cutter worked awesome. The pump, not so much! Don't waste your money on this!

Very flimsy. Also I have seen similar ones for 30% of the price paid.I expected a certain amount of quality for the price.The majority of my wines do not have corks. I bought it specifically to open very old Grange which in the past I had problems using my corkscrew.I do not dare try it on my vintage wines.

We get wine from a you-brew (actually you-vint) store, and our last batch of 30 bottles had corks that must have been dried out, as they crumbled when we used a corkscrew. I had seen openers like these that used a CO2 cartridge, but this was much cheaper and looked to be better. What can I say: remove the shrink foil, stick the needle through the cork, and after a quick pump or two the cork slides out with a pop reminiscent of opening a champagne bottle. Way easier than a corkscrew, and a lifesaver for our dry corks.I liked this model better than some others as it has a guard that shields the needle. A collar at the top of the guard lets you easily eject the cork. Very happy with this purchase.
