PERFECT
This one was perfect shape, size and functionality. I needed a mount with the ability to install the mount to the wall first and then slide the 48" TV on.

Works as advertised
This was very easy for me to put together, if somewhat time consuming. I had to do this alone, as a petite female, with a 50 inch TV. This was not easy, let me tell you, and required some creative thinking to lift a 50 inch TV over my head to connect the two units. There aren't a lot of TV mounts you could do this with, which was one reason why I chose this one. The motion is good on the mount and it's very sturdy (if hung correctly). Take the time to find the middle of your stud. I discovered I had a wonky do-it-yourself wall placement and non-standard distance between the studs, so this was the only option I had as far as mounts since TV mounts are built on the assumption your wall has proper standard stud placement. This is another plus for this mount since you only need one stud. Because my studs are so improperly spaced, I had to compromise where I put the mount, but even with it being off centered, I can swivel the mount to get the TV placed properly.Putting up a TV mount is not terribly easy. I've had several people ask me to do theirs after finding out I was able to do this by myself. The pluses of only having to find one stud, and being able to put the two pieces of the mount together (the wall mount and the connection to the TV) by simply lifting and dropping can't be underestimated. I'm not sure why some people had a difficult time, but if you take your time and go slowly, it should be quite easy. Make sure you have all of the pieces in the box, and you should with anything you have to put together. Customer service for Sanus is quite good should you find an issue. I bought a second one for another, slightly smaller TV for the family room since it went up so smoothly. And FYI, if you are missing a screw, etc., have Sanus send you the replacement as these items can be overpriced at your local hardware or hardware box store.

MOUNTING BRACKET NEEDS MODIFIED
Sanus VMF518-B1 WALL MOUNTI bought the first one from Amazon on 11-25-16 to mount a Sony 49" XBR49X830C TV. The item was delivered promptly and in good condition. Instructions were clear enough and assembly & mounting were trouble-free. Provided bolts & spacers attached the mounting brackets to the TV without problem. The wall-mount is covered in a black enamel paint, making it attractive. As expected, it's completely out-of-sight behind the TV when viewed from the front.Because of the ease involved mounting this unit, when I bought a new Samsung 40" UN40KU6290F TV to mount on a kitchen wall, even though the price of the Sanus MVF518-B1 mount is pricey, I opted to buy another, mainly based on the attractive, articulated design and ease of installation of the first one.Again, Amazon delivered the unit promptly and in good condition. The short story is, the mount isn't designed correctly for this TV. The top of the vertical mounting plate (on the back of the TV) extends about one inch above the top of the set. The provided mounting bolts were the proper length. After calling Sanus about the problem, I used a hacksaw to cut off the excess on the vertical plate that was visible above the TV. A touch of black paint on the cut end made the mount look almost new, although the cut end will never be seen unless it's examined closely. The extra labor added about five minutes to the overall installation. Returning the unit and finding, ordering & delivering another would have taken extra days.Roll, pitch & yaw movements are easily made and can be adjusted to increase/decrease resistance to movement. I've velcroed a cable-adapter box to the back of the TV, and surprisingly the box receives input from the cable-provider's remote, although it's out of sight. That means I can return the remote-control extender I bought. Fully closed, the front of the TV is about 7 inches from the wall. If I'd positioned the duplex receptacle (plug-in) in a slightly different location, the closed dimension would be 1-1/4" less. Moving the velcroed cable-adapter box will accomplish the same change. An 18" (0.5m) HDMI cable helps keeps everything out of sight. Removing the mounted TV from the wall adapter is simple, but requires two people, one to hold/lift the TV and another to pull the locking pin and locking tab. Remounting the TV is equally simple, and may be done by one person, though two would help to assure the TV mounting tab was in the wall-mount slot. I've done it both ways.Adding a speaker bar would require adding another receptacle and in-wall connectors, not a difficult task on an uninsulated wall, but pricey. This rating combines a 5 for the first unit, and 2-3 for the second because of the vertical mounting bar being too long.

Perfect Mount for Our Needs!
We recently downsized to a 2 bedroom condo. We brought with us an old Sony Bravia 40 inch LCD TV for the living room and purchased a new Sharp Aquos 39 inch model for the master bedroom. We had already successfully installed the Sharp with another full motion Sanus wall mount, but I was concerned about mounting the old Sony TV. First, it is much heavier than the newer models. Also, it is in a very constrained space, but needs to be viewable from a wide range of angles. Finally, we needed to mount it above a rather tall piece of furniture. I feared that I would not be able to find a full motion mount that could hold the weight of the Sony and tilt down enough for comfortable viewing. Following up on a tip given in a review of Sanus mounts, I used the Find-a-Mount tool on the Sanus web site and was able to get the perfect mount by searching on the TV make and model. I had a handyman install it. This TV is heavy and I would not have been able to mount it myself. He was able to install it in under an hour using the hardware it came with. It feels really solid. It is fully articulating. It can be rotated to any viewing angle we need and extended from the wall quite far to provide clearance for a large rotation angle. It also tilts down a good bit for perfect viewing. I highly recommend this mount for matching TV models.
