Delicious, nutritious, allergen-friendly meals
I have these tasty freeze-dried meals on auto ship and recently used a bunch when our family went camping. The meals came in handy on a couple nights when there was heavy rain and we couldn’t conveniently cook on our grill. Two packets were enough to feed two adults and three little kids. All of my kids, even, surprisingly, my picky one year old seemed to enjoy these! We have a couple people with severe allergies in our family so it is really appreciated that the foods from Wild Zora are free from allergens. The ingredient list is really high quality, high protein, and healthful. It seems like most freeze dried meals don’t have as high a protein content. You could easily add additional seasonings (tastes great as is but would be easy to customize), proteins, veggies, or serve over a grain such as rice. The texture is great, as with many freeze dried meals the food is chopped pretty fine prior to packaging. I have also used these meals when restaurant fare has been unsuitable due to allergens and the meals are portable, lightweight, and easy to prepare. I have only made the meals with hot water in a bowl or pan (not the pouch) but being able to make them with cooler water/ in the pouch makes them very versatile and convenient.

Tasty, convenient, but surprisingly quite spicy-hot
This freeze-dried meal was quite tasty and absolutely convenient for our group of campers. That said, we thought it was too spicy-hot. The ingredients list clearly shows the hot pepper, but that does not suggest the degree of spicy heat. A thermometer icon or other way to indicate it’s quite spicy would be great. Also, the sodium count is high, and we could not think of a reason so much salt would be needed. Still, even though this product is expensive, overall we thought it was a great addition to our week of camping meals.

Surprisingly good.
Normally I would not buy this type of product. It seems more suitable for man bun wearing guys that for a 66 year old red neck. But I decided to try the variety pack for my wife. She likes to try freeze dried meals when we are not at home. I was very surprised when I tried these. I liked them better than my wife did. I like the major brand freeze dried products. But these are a big step above them. They are a bit more pricey though. The meals are tasty, easy to prepare, and filling. I found these single serving meals are more filling then the two serving meals from the well known competition. They also are not as bland as the competition. I didn't find a need to spice it up. I will be buy them again.

So glad I found these!
I recently bought the seven pack for a 53 mile backpacking trip and was very pleased with all of them. I’m not a breakfast person and these breakfasts were amazingly good. I am strictly Paleo/AIP diet and I was so happy to find this brand. A lot of the other dehydrated brands had crap in it that I didn’t want to eat along with gluten, sugars and other excessive carbs. These were very nutrient dense and I felt clean and healthy on my trip. The flavors were really good and the quality was top notch. I was excited to have dinner every night! The only thing I would suggest is maybe bring some extra fat to throw in there like a bit of butter or some extra olive or coconut oil. That would make it absolutely perfect and you need that extra fat on backpacking trips for added fuel, these are on the lean side on the fats, but still very filling. I will eat these on my next back packing trip 100%.

Yukkkk
Know that I come from 35-40 years of backpacking experience. I bought this product because I was looking for something that was healthier, no seed oils and all, well you know the healthier stuff. This food was like literally taking the spice bottle out of your cabinet that listed that was in the product and dumping it in your mouth. I don’t write many reviews. But this was bad tasting.

Off Flavor and no Oxygen Absorber
These meals are ok. The flavor is very earthy, while the meat in the meals are delicious. The meals were missing the oxygen absorbers so that may have played a role in the flavor being so earthy. I stepped out and tried these meals to help add some variety to my last backpacking trip. The whole group agreed that the flavor was just off for some reason. Some salt might have helped? There was plenty of food for an adult and I felt full after eating the meal. I would not buy them again because I question the shelf life with no oxygen absorbers in the meals and again, the flavor was just a little off.

Bring Your Own Spices
I've been using dehydrated meals as backpacking "treats" for over 30 years and I am NOT a picky eater by any standard. This is the first time I've tried Wild Zora products because I was attracted to the nutritional value and minimally processed ingredients. However, it seems reasonable to me that a meal called "Mountain Beef Stew" should taste/smell like beef. This tastes like what is on the end of the ingredient list: celery, marjoram, parsley and thyme. It should be called "herbaceous chopped veggie medley with beef bits." Similarly, the "Summit Savory Chicken" should be called "sweet herbaceous chopped veggie medley with chicken bits." If you really like parsley, cilantro, celery-type flavors, this is for you. If not, you can try doctoring it with your own spices but after a long day of hiking pristine wilderness, the last thing you want to do is choke down your dinner.
