Fun ideas for kids (and adults)
This book has some great ideas for collage art that can be done with everyday found items. It also includes valuable tips on organizing and setting up art materials and plenty of extension activities such as , "Other Ideas to Try," at the end of each chapter as well as tips found under "Follow up Thoughts." It is more than just a book full of collage activities. Based on children's natural interest in "collecting, arranging, and constructing," it will not only encourage creativity but be loads of fun. NOTE: The small print suggests that it is for use with ages preschool through third grade. I am not sure that I would use the activities with children under four years old without a lot of simplifying, and that might be stretching it. I tried the Life-Size Self Portrait with twin three year olds and a four year old---probably not a great place to start. The four year old did pretty well with assistance, but the three-year-olds, well, let's just say I had to do a lot of corralling, and I was the one who needed a nap when all was done. One-on-one with assistance might have worked better. I think the activities in this book could also be used adapted for adults for use in expressive arts and creative play exercises. I highly recommend it.

Collage Workshop is a must-have in your creative family's library!
If you create with children, love collage or admire the work of Eric Carle, this book is essential! This beautifully photographed book provides endless inspiration for children of all ages. Each project section offers multiple possibilities for open-ended art play and is paired with invitations from The Eric Carle Museum in Pittsburgh. I appreciate the use of accessible materials and thoughtful provocations that encourage artistic freedom. This book is such a gift! As a parent and art educator, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Five stars are seriously not enough.

nice ideas; more chat than I expected
Love the Carle Museum so I am glad to have supported them through this purchase. There was a bit more blogging-style writing than I was really looking for - I would have been happy with more pics and direct how-to's and less chatting.

A colorful book
This book is a great "to do" book for people interested in helping their primary or preschool child in learning about the style of Eric Carle and in replicating work which mimics his style.

Kids will use anything to make art!
I love the free expression of collage in creating art with my grandkids. They all know the Eric Carl books so can identify with the tissue paper effect, but we find all kinds of materials around the house to make great creations with the techniques from the book. Great fun!

Very impressed- like a workshop within a book!
So many art books are beautiful but lack true directions and guidance. This book is wonderfully rich with projects just unique enough that you haven't seen on Pinterest 100 times and empowering to jump in and help your child create their own version of the project. This book has true curriculum level art classes within it's pages
