Love it! Lots of wisdom and fun facts!

I don't know what it is with some of the so-called reviews of this book. They were written long before the book was even published. Amazon needs to get its act together and clean up the review process. For all of you potential readers out there, here is a REAL review of this book: Rules of Thumb is more than a book. It is a toolbox of shortcuts. There are a number of things I like about the book, starting with how it feels. It is small and fits in the palm of your hand. Set it on your kitchen counter, and it makes a great conversation starter when guests come over because no one can resist picking it up. It is fun because it is full of pictures. Use the index to find the rule you need. Best of all, Rules of Thumb compiles the advice of people who have learned from experience--so you don't have to. In this time of penny pinching, it will make a great stocking stuffer. I'm getting one for each member of my family.

There's no formatting of this book. Information is just random, and to be taken with a grain of salt. That being said, it is fun to browse and share tidbits with others. Also would make a great "bathroom book"!

that seems to have everything. Just a little book that has lots of useful and not so useful trivia in it. I saw it in another store and came to Amazon to buy it because I always get such great deals. It was worth the 8.95 I paid and he seemed to like it.

I learn something new every day from this book. The tid-bits of information are interesting and easy to remember. I recommend it to moms like me who don't get a lot of time to read and want to get the most they can from what little time they have!

Some of the rules of thumb are helpful. A lot of them are not very good. "How to tell if a ghost is real?" Gimme a break.

This is a cute paperback with many little ditties in it to keep your mind thinking. Take it the reading room with you just to keep your mind occupied. Glad I purchased it.

This book doesn't quite deliver what it says on the jacket. Much of the contents are not rules of thumb at all. Rules of thumb are supposed to be shortcuts and informed estimates that make practical, everyday activities easier. Many of the items in this book are no more than interesting (?) anecdotes, with little or no practical application, and some of the information seems simply wrong. If you like trivia, then the book is good fun, but as "A Life Manual" it leaves a lot to be desired.

Enjoyable read

This is a brief review of interesting facts of life. Written in a funny way, easy to understand and to implement in life. Definitely worth reading! The book is a good inspiration for going on the Internet to broaden your knowledge about the topic. I strongly recommend that book to every open-minded person.
