Career-spanning collection of all of Tom Petty's hits with The Heartbreakers, his solo work and Mudcrutch. The 38-track set also features two previously-unreleased tracks: the poignant and autobiographical 'For Real' and the collection's lead single - an alternate version of the title track, which restores a never-heard second verse to the song that was originally recorded for the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' 1985 album, 'Southern Accents'. The collection also features an essay on Tom Petty written especially for this collection by Academy Award-winning screenwriter, director, author and journalist Cameron Crowe. All 38 recordings have been re-mastered for this collection from pristine transfers of the original studio masters.

The Best of Everything - it certainly is
I have to admit I had not listened to Tom Petty until someone introduced me to the Travelling Wilburys, Then I saw him singing While my Guitar Gently Weeps at the 2004 tribute to George Harrison, along with Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison and Prince.I have reached the age when you return to the music you liked as a teenager, in the 60s in my case, and on into the 70s. Ultimately, I love rock music and bands with good guitarists. And a bit of blues. This collection of songs on 2 CDs are magic, from Free Falling at the start, all the way through. I can see from listening to some of these tracks his influence on the Travelling Wilburys album.

Brilliant CDs For The Money
I know most of Tom Perry’s singles but have none of his albums. I picked this because of the many favourable and helpful reviews from ‘proper’ fans of this awesome human being. Each CD is over 70 minutes long and I paid £5.99 for the two. To be honest I was expecting a few ‘filler’ tracks but not so. I love every track on both CDs, which is no mean feat.I now have to figure out what classic to buy next. It’s such a shame there will be no more new music to enjoy. The production on these CDs is brilliant by the way.;-)

A Classic set of Tom Petty at his Best
Having listened to Tom Petty in the 70/80's I had long since moved on, with a lot of his later work work not coming to my attention. Yes, the UK singles were good, but they came across as "singles" and I never really followed Tom's albums. That all changed when a friend introduced me to this album, and after purchase I found myself playing the more obscure tracks in preference to the well known singles, and have now moved on to buy many of his later works. If you like Tom Petty's music at all, you cannot go wrong with this album as an accessible tribute to his life.

Great compilation
I'm not such a fan that I need to get a whole bunch of Tom Petty so this suits me fine. There's plenty on it though and quality is very high throughout.

The Best Of Everything – well, almost!
This career-overview of the work of Tom Petty has been quite a while in preparation and was compiled by Tom’s family and closest band members, it features both personal favourites and most of the big hits. Rather curiously entitled The Best Of Everything – and described as The Definitive Career Spanning Hits Collection 1976-2016 – you will find Tom’s solo work as well as tracks with the Heartbreakers, Stevie Nicks and Mudcrutch; but strangely nothing by either Charlie T Wilbury Jr or Muddy Wilbury. However, the tracks chosen make a decent look back at Tom’s forty year career (except for Traveling Wilburys) and for those who already have every Petty thing, there is an alternate version and a previously unreleased track included to make this release worth having. This collection is available for streaming, as an MP3, a CD and on 4 Vinyl LPs – if you purchase the CD or Vinyl versions direct from Amazon you will also get the MP3 version AutoRipped to your Amazon Music Library. The music has been mastered from the original stereo analogue and digital masters by Chris Bellman, under the supervision of Ryan Ulyate, and is a good-sounding collection of 38 tracks. Perhaps not everyone’s perfect selection of tracks but for around eleven pounds for the double CD version this is a good value compilation that is presented in a gate-fold card sleeve with an integral booklet. This two CD set is ideal for those new to Tom Petty and looking for a collection to remember him by, but it is also worth adding by any fan as it offers an inexpensive and worthwhile conclusion to Tom’s career.

All Those Stories Told...
Missing Tom very much. I was a kid back in 75' when I heard " American Girl" on Radio Luxemburg and got hooked right away. Saw Tom and the guys at Knebworth and tried to go to every tour from then. So saw Tom the week before he died. This album is one of the great best it's. Yes I am sure we have all made our own up over the years but this holds all those stories that attracted me to the guys style of bringing songs to life together. Thanks for a great album. Here's to those songs not released yet...buy this album.

Great best of... collection
Obviously a best of is very subjective but to these old ears this is a pretty damn good selection of Mr Petty's finest moments. RIP Tom...
