Great closer for front storm door that opens 180 degrees.
I had one of these closer on my front storm door for over 35 yrs. It worked perfectly until a storm caught it out of my wife's hand & snapped the spring inside. I was so pleased to find this exact replacement on AMAZON as the holes all matched up fine. This closer lets the door open 180 degrees (most only open 90 degrees). Hope to get 35 more years out of this one.

Complex installation, not recoverable if started wrong
I first installed the Pro Chutes Closer on a right-hinges door (where an original Rota-Closer resides) to check its workings. It did not close completely which was possibly due to the old bracket being mounted offset from current spec. Then I installed it per provided dimensions on a left-hinges door where it is intended. I have spent much adjustment time trying to have it close satisfactorily. Right now on the left-hinges door it closes too fast and slams shut with one adjustment screw setting, and when adjusted left one notch it has a good closing speed but does not close completely. Pro Chutes' response to request for advice: Regretfully we do not have a support service to pinpoint and remedy your situation. I can tell you that this product has a history of being a very precise installation and that many have struggled with it. Not because of the product, but because of the complex nature of this install.

Replaced an old identical rotary closer
The spring on my very old rotary closer broke broke. That company is no longer in business, but there appear to be rotary closers identical in look and design on Amazon. I compared the versions available and purchased the one that looked to be as robust as my original. It proved to be of equal quality, and it functions perfectly. The reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that the instructions were vague on mounting. It proved to be a puzzle, but since I like puzzles I finally got it mounted through trial and error and it is operating perfectly. The missing step is when to secure the articulating arm to the closer. The interface consists of a slot in the arm and a nut to secure it in place. Nothing in the instructions explains this step.

Fits Tight Spaces
This hydraulic closer works nicely for closing a lightweight storm door that is mounted too close to the main door to allow use of the common tubular closer. It lasts quite a few years even with frequent operation.

Exact replacement for forty year old one.
One like this that was in our house for forty plus years broke. This was an exact replacement. Time to buy a lottery ticket.

Just what I needed
It was just what I needed to replace an older one but as much as I adjust it it still won't close the door all the way. Instructions on how to install it are good but there should be some for the way to adjust it even though it just seems you push up and turn. Didn't see anything about the nut on top to position the holder either.

Doesn’t work
I installed this, and it doesn’t work. Maybe it’s a defective one; I will return it and try another one.
