Samsung 4GB DDR4 PC4-21300 2666MHz 260pin SODIMM Memory M471A5244CB0-CTD Review: Easy if yk what your doing - Worked just as described and easy to put in Review: Excellent memory expansion option for Synology DS220+ - I wasn't willing to pay the ridiculous Synology price for the official memory expansion card, so I looked at the specs, and decided that this Samsung 4GB card would meet my needs nicely, while still staying within the official 6GB maximum. Installation is quite easy: you shutdown and disconnect the box, take out one of the drives (on the side with the memory card slot), carefully insert the new card at a slight angle, then press down gently until it clicks into place with the retaining clips. Then restart, and check the system info to confirm that you have 6GB memory. I experienced no problems throughout this process. Note: if you do a web search, you'll see various sites discussing the addition of an 8GB or 16GB chip, supposedly this works because the system board supports it. I didn't go there because my system isn't going to be heavily loaded (I use it as a NAS, that's it), so it wasn't worthwhile for me. I seem to have sufficient headroom for all my anticipated needs, and the system performance is more than adequate.

Works perfect in Synology DS920+
Figured I'd max out the RAM in my Synology DS920+ and went ahead and picked up this module since the price was really low. Not really needed right now but figured why not...cheap upgrade. Installed easy, with no errors. Synology NAS arrays can be picky when it comes to RAM chips and NVMe SSDs used for cache. I'm pretty sure the RAM chips soldered on the board that come with the NAS are Samsung but rebranded.

Easy and cheap upgrade for my Dell Latitude
I had a Dell Latitude with only 1 4GB Kingston DDR4 RAM stick in it and another empty slot. I tried installing Crucial 16GB DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB), but it kept throwing memory errors. I bought this Samsung 4GB DDR4 to go with my Kingston stick so now my Dell has 8GB of RAM over the slots. I then ran Windows Memory Diagnostics again to make sure everything was fine and it was. Now, after 6 hours of using my laptop, it can run multiple applications with much more ease. I don't know why or how, but having this mixed RAM is working better than installing two identical Crucial 8GB sticks (all 2666Mhz speed as well).

Synology DS224+
As of 7/19/2025, this is compatible and works great with a Synology DS224+ NAS.

After researching Synology NAS I found that their basic RAM is made by Samsung and so the same make should work in the extension slot. The Synology branded RAM was over $100 whereas the Samsung RAM is $30. It worked beautifully. Easy to insert. And DSM recognised it immediately and I now have 6GB of RAM instead of 2GB for a fraction of the cost. I bought Samsung because they make Synology's RAM and that persuaded me over buying the Crucial RAM, not that Crucial don't make good RAM. They do. I worked on the basis that Samsung would be less risky in being recognised by DSM, which I think is the case here.

I got exactly what I was looking for which is Samsung M471A5244CB0-CTD. My HP laptop already has another 4GB of this exact model. Memory is not going to be issue with total 8 gigs. More importantly I am hoping the dual channel would make FORTRAN programs run a bit faster. The price is slightly on the higher side but I didn't want to risk using a mismatched(even a bit) pair of RAMs.
