reasonably priced, works well in cool weather, neck is stiff and tight
This is a nice reasonably priced jacket for cool, but not real cold conditions. I use it in 40-60F weather over a light base layer, maybe down to freezing with thermal base layer. The front, shoulders, and arms of the jacket are wind/rain resistant, while the back is a breathable jersey fabric. This works great in weather conditions other than heavy or steady rain. The breathable back really helps prevent overheating, which is a big problem with many jackets. One zippered rear pocket holds your wallet, phone, or some snacks.Sizing on the jacket is typical Pearl Izumi - somewhat looser in the shoulders and belly than the popular Italian and Swiss brands. If you want a super-sleek look, try Pearl Izumi's higher-end jackets which have a more stretchy racy fit. Pearl Izumi Select is their cheapest line of bicycling clothing, Pearl Izumi also has more expensive Elite and Pro lines.I have 2 complaints about this jacket: first I don't like the large black panel in front which I think makes you less visible to car drivers. Second, the neck and waist are very stiff. I wish that especially the neck had more elastic. I have slightly larger than normal neck (shirt size 16.5) and the neck on this jacket is uncomfortable when zipped all the way up.

Impressive Technology, Impressive Jacket!
This jacket is amazing! First off, I am new to cycling and have been purchasing a variety of gear as we move through the seasons. I hate HATE HATE cold weather and being cold - so I wanted to find something that would allow me to continue to ride while the southern California temperatures dropped into the low 50's... I know, I know... Many of you east coast folks are now laughing... I spent my time in NY and can honestly say, 50 degrees is not cold... Needless to say, anything below 70 to southern Californians is cold... Anyway - during one of my centuries I felt a constant dripping on my legs... I started to search the skies for the rain cloud - and found nothing in sight... The dripping continued for miles until I finally made a stop and took off the jacket... It was soaking, sponge-like, wet! The jacket had absorbed all my sweat and moved it to the outer layer... I could literally wring the jacket and handfuls of water would come out of the jacket. It blew my mind! My body was damp, but not wet. On top of that, it was comfortable in the 20 degree swing that I had during the 100 miles. It was warm during the low 50's of the early morning and still very comfortable during the low 70's of the afternoon sun. AND it looks good too! Impressive!

Great Fit and Feature! Medium was perfect at 6' and 170lbs. No regrets making this purchase!
After sifting through many possibilities, I settled on this Pearl Izumi thermal jacket -- partly because I have learned to trust the brand name. I am not disappointed. It is well made and exactly what I was wanting. Here are some important particulars:FIRST: I am 6' and 170lbs -- I was hesitant to purchase a Medium because most of my jerseys are Large. Reading the reviews from others I decided to risk a Medium. It is perfectly snug! Exactly right. I don't want a jacket whipping in the breeze, but one that fits close without feeling bound. If you are my size, go with Medium.SECOND: In my opinion, whatever temperature is tolerable for a cyclist without a jacket, adding this jacket will allow the rider to maintain the same level of comfort in weather up to ten degrees colder (Fahrenheit). In other words, I can ride with several light layers and a thermal JERSEY to about 55F and stay comfortable. By adding this jacket I maintain the same level of comfort down to about 45F. I can ride in the lower 40's, but I am more chilled (but that's mainly my feet, not my midsection). In my opinion, this jacket is an excellent windbreaker.Highly recommended!

Pearl Izumi Select Thermal Barrier Jacket
The Pearl Izumi Select Thermal Barrier jacket is exactly what I needed for my early morning rides and night rides where temps can dip to 50 in my area. The fleece lining is soft and keeps me nice and warm. Sleeves are long enough to go over the gloves and not ride up. The neck is lined with fleece as well and it's nice and high. This jacket paired with a good base layer would be perfect.Size wise it fit as expected. I'm normally a large, but opted for the XL because I knew I might be layering and with my previous experience with Pearl Izumi gear, they run tight around the armpit when positioned on my bike. The XL provided nice comfort without the constricting tightness. I know I know the gear should be close to the body and not flapping around, but I'd rather be comfortable on a ride.I got the screaming yellow color and it definitely pops. It kind of looks like it has a glow to it. Maybe it's just me, but I showed other people and they said the same thing. So you can say visibility in the night won't be an issue.Materials use and build quality are great.Overall I love this jacket.

Does not worth more than $50, better order this at big sale. Will update again after rides.
Sleeve is long when putting on, should be fine when riding, the color is fine, but the material is not a $100+ quality. Have bought other jackets from some new brands with less than $50, material better than this one, only size fits smaller, need to order one or two size up. The best thing for this jacket I have found is the zipper, they use YKK zipper and make it inside out, so it looks better, but not some kind of water resistant layer on it like my other $30 jacket. It's hot now, and will update the review again after a long ride. Maybe it's a good idea to ride it in Typhoon weather this weekend. LOL.Bought this for $64.99, thought I must had a great deal, but the quality is only OK, but not good enough. Living in China, we have a lot of chances to know different fabrics, this jacket looks great on web, but when I got this package, it disappoints me so ...... The material is cheap, only normal material with little fleece, the extra layer of wind block or water resistant quality is also only EM....., does not worth above $50 anyway. I think that Pearl Izumi adds the price too much. Return will be a little bit difficult, since the custom tax already paid. Will update the review after several rides to see how it feels like.

Sehr gute Fahrradjacke

ordentliche Radjacke
