Quirky AIP friendly "Nut"
Being on an Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet has limited snacking, and I've done really well with the occasional desire for something crunchy and salty and something chewy and sweet. For the crunchy part, I've found plantain chips cooked in olive oil with sea salt, for something sweet and chewy, these tiger nuts are my new go to. Hear me out. The first few servings (about 25 nuts) were a little woody and pulpy, with a tiny nugget of sweetness in the center. As I went slowly through the bag (25 nuts a night) I started enjoying them and looking forward to them. The light sweetness and chewiness has grown on me, and I eat them raw, out of the bag. You can soak them to soften them up, but I'm happy with the raw version. They are not nuts, they are tubers that grow in the ground. They are full of fiber (which is helpful on this diet) and a few other things that are good for us. If someone had told me four months ago that I would be eating chewy tubers instead of Good and Plenty, I'd have laughed. But here I am, substituting sugar and chewy licorice with tiger nuts, and loving it! I ate the first bag in about two weeks, and just got my second one. If you're struggling to remove sugar and need something sweet but healthy, give these a try. Give them a few tries!

Pleasantly surprised, definitely different, and could get addicting for me...I like em a lot.
Having first heard of these about a year ago, this product intrigued me for a long time and I finally ordered some, not really knowing what to expect given the full spectrum of reviews on here from one to five stars. After trying a couple dozen of them, I've gotta say I really like them and can see myself ordering these on a regular basis. I didn't soak them in water as some have said, and now that I've tried them I don't see a need to, though I may try it just to see how they are. As others have written, they have a sweetness, and the coconut and almond background flavors are there too. They're chewy but not rubbery at all, and they're not a stick-in-your-teeth kind of chewy. The outer peel gives a nice balance to the smoother texture of the inner part. The peel is somewhat fibrous (in a pleasing way), and it's not even in the same ballpark as trying to eat a peanut or a sunflower seed that's still in the shell. Either of those are almost inedible that way to me (though I've known people to do it), but these Tiger Nuts are great, peel and all. You can keep one in your mouth without biting it for a long time too if you want, and taste the subtle flavor slowly and it won't start to get soft for a good long while. I also ordered some of the peeled variety, but haven't tried those yet. I had to force myself to stop eating these and didn't want to spoil my lunch, so I'll save the peeled ones for another day and review those also once I've tried them. Can't see reviewing those with less than five stars after eating these, though. If you're curious and/or on the fence about these as I was, give them a shot. I'm glad I did and I think I may have found another of life's little pleasures.

Delicious snack
These tiger nuts taste great. I've shared these with several people and they also like the taste. They have a taste and texture that's reminiscent of coconut and almond and perhaps granola. As with coconut, I find that the extra chewing necessitated by the fibrous nature of the tiger nut makes it difficult to overeat. That's a good thing because these aren't cheap and they could become a minor addiction for me. When eaten straight out of the bag, they're quite sturdy, but entirely chewable. They sometimes have a slight earthy quality to the flavor (which makes sense because they're part of the root system of a type of grass). I think they taste fine that way. The bag recommends soaking overnight before eating, and the soaking does two things as far as I can tell. It makes them a bit softer, and it makes the mild earthy component of the flavor all but disappear. I prefer them after soaking.

Can't chew them
These are like chewing dry raisins. I've given up trying to eat them. The flavor is fine, and I'm sure they're healthy. Just wish they were softer. Will not be purchasing again.

No Need To Soak! They are just perfect as they are!
I absolutely love these Tiger Nuts. I eat them right out of the bag. I have never soaked them nor do I find any need to waste time soaking them. They are chewy and delicious! Easy snack, they taste great~ very unique almond/coconut flavor. I keep reaching into the bag for another small handful. I take them to work, on trips and keep them on my kitchen counter. My kids love them too. Tiger Nuts are one of the 5 top favorite foods in the kitchen. I re-order immediately when the last bag gets low. They are a perfect superfood!!

Not great
I have tried the slices which I liked so I decided to give the whole ones a try. They are very chewy, not great flavor, and a difficult snack in the whole version. Would not buy these again. I’ll stick with the slices. They’re easier to consume and for some reason taste better.

They have a lightly sweet but clean taste
These things are highly addictive! They have a lightly sweet but clean taste, and a crunchiness that makes them hard to stop eating. I think the flavor is between an almond and fresh coconut, but tastier. HOWEVER, the package and other reviewers claim they are much better after soaking overnight which is NOT true. Your jaw muscles will be sore from chewing. If you can stand to wait 3+ days to soak these babies it is totally worth it because it makes them fresh and crisp. I'm growing some tiger nuts (these will sprout!) but have to buy more in the mean time. Gotta have my fix!
