Works great!
I recently purchased a three year old vehicle that I had shipped from New York and that had very very low mileage, so it was apparently not used a lot during the pandemic. While the 12 volt battery is holding a charge, it reads as barely over 12.1 or 12.2 volts most times and apparently this car likes it to be at least 12.4 to not give me a partially charged notice on the app. Although I've not have any start issues, I don't drive a lot myself, so I bought this to use as a trickle charge and I put it on the days that I know I'm not driving anywhere. It's been working well to keep the battery at a level where it doesn't give me that app notice. I probably need to get a fresh battery honestly, but they are high dollar and in the meantime this is helping to bring that voltage up. My first charge went all day before it switched over from an amber light charging to a green light for the 24/7 maintenance charge, but each successive time the time to switch over has been shortened. Regular use now brings the battery back up to a full charge and over to the maintenance charge in about 2 hours. Just hook it up and plug it in, so easy to use too!

Always Gets The Job Done
This charger always keeps my batteries in great shape. Never overheats the battery you're trying to charge. I have 2 to keep everything charged up during the winter. Used one on my Hellcat over the winter with no issues.

The perfect companion to any recreational vehicle
The OptiMate 5 is hands down the best battery maintainer money can buy. I have had this now for about 6 months and every time I want to ride my motorcycle, I CAN!Gone are the days where I would go to start my bike and hear the ubiquitous clicking noise. I used to have the itch to go ride and then I'd have to charge up the battery and by then, I didn't want to ride anymore. This was the best purchase I have made in a while, as it has directly resulted in more riding time and absolutely ZERO hassle. This maintainer DOES NOT CHARGE YOUR DEAD BATTERY! It was not intended to do that. It just cycles the battery and keeps it topped off. You must charge your battery prior to plugging this in.I highly recommend you get multiple pigtails to hook up to all your outdoor toys/tools and you can then keep all of your items fully charged!I have been very impressed with the way this works. It doesn't make any noise like other battery chargers I have used in the past, it won't cause thermal runaway and it has brought back several of my batteries from the dead after a short charge from my main battery charger. I have even refreshed a 12 year old Harley battery with this thing.Imagine the money saved over the years, imagine riding your bike whenever you please.Buy one of these and stop dreaming!

Optimate is automatic
I’ve used Battery Tender brand tenders for many years. Problem nowadays is many of the batteries are AGM type batteries and the old fashioned tenders don’t work on them. I bought the Optimate 5, based on a friend’s recommendation who uses them. It takes over and is automatic. It will bring back a discharge battery you might have thought was dead, unless there is a damaged cell. It runs the battery through some cycles and once it’s fully charged, goes into a maintenance mode. You can leave it hooked up all the time, it will not hurt the battery. I am going to buy a few more of these so I don’t have to switch it around.

Flawless, even in rural Tanzania!
Through Astronomers Without Borders we just installed East Africa's first dedicated astronomical observatory in rural Tanzania! The telescope is operated by a 12V car battery which is continuously charged by this unit. I spent days in research before heading to Tanzania, making certain I could find a unit that could receive 240V in and be connected to a battery while in operation. It worked flawlessly. We even mounted the charge on the wall so that the unit was out of the way, and less likely to get bumped when observing the night sky.

Good to have!
I have had of these maintainers for 10 years, I put it on my vehicle's battery nightly. (it's been cold!). WhenI 'm ready to drive the voltage meter usually reads 13 plus volts. It fires right up, Remarks, the battery is several years old but the Car is 1990 model.

when you have a bike over 15K and it ends up being a doors stopper because battery is dead!
Its. simple to use plug and forget, but too expensive. Considering electronic products that you can buy for $20 dollars which do the same. That said if you are sitting on a 20K bike that is collecting dust in the garage as the battery is dead, and hitching a ride for a 600lb bike costs 150$. The cost pales in comparison to the pain caused due to a dead battery. For those of you researching how technically good and how many multipurpose it will serve, forget the research get a cheap product and connect it will serve well so does this product except its expensive. And shows lots of green lights that don't mean much.
