Basic, sharp cheap clippers.
They are comfortable in my hand (not slippery or hard to hold, for the most part) and they clip the nails cleanly (no splintering). I can easily see where I am cutting, unlike the guillotine clippers that I've used in the past which are thick and cover the nail on all sides; these are open on the top and the metal is thin enough to be sure of what I am doing. They do seem to be becoming dull already, but I have three dogs (one of the three has tough nails). My technique: I'm lucky enough to have two dogs with light-colored nails. Before cutting, I have someone shine a flashlight through the underside of the nails so I can see the quick from above, while I mark the end of the quick, on the nail with a fine-tip Sharpie. I then sit under a lamp and cut to just near the Sharpie marks. It's easier than guessing and easier than holding a flashlight through the entire clipping process.

Beware..pic is not current stock
As a foster mom & owner of up to 6 doxies at a time, this style of clipper is the only kind I will buy. I know they are popular & found it strange that neither Petsmart nor Petco by us had them in stock, when my last clipper went out. The spring broke. So I came here to Amazon & selected this clipper, thinking the springs were heavy duty, say like JW Pet Company GripSoft Nail Clipper for Dogs are.Not so. The springs are just a bunch of wrapped circular wires. On the good side, there are still more wrapped around than any of the other brands I found here. For now these will be fine & probably last a couple of years. Unless you are strong armed, the important thing to know about this style of clipper is the springs and leverage allow you to cut nails quick and precisely without much effort & don't obscure your visit like Guillotine style clippers. Also I've found that scissor style clippers were just too hard for me to use & subjected the dogs to hit and misses due to my lack of hand strength.

A MUST! $4 Such a deal!
One of my dogs has dew claws, he doesn’t let the groomers touch it. Bought this clipper as his nails were curving already, worried about it affecting his paw I bought this clipper and it works great! Clipper them right off in seconds! I’ve only used it once but I’ll be sure to leave an update in the future to see if it holds up.

Work as they are supposed to and good price
They work without any issues- other than my dogs running and hiding when they come into view that is!There is a little metal piece on them that you can keep in place and use if you want to be sure just to clip a little off without getting too much nail, or you can move it out of the way if you need to make a larger cut. We have 2 Jack Russels, one is about 16 lbs and the other 18 lbs and these are exactly the correct size for clipping their nails.

Gotta clip the puppy dogs toe nails!
These are good and sharp so to get a clean snip the first time without leaving straggly bits that then need to be filed down. If you have a doggy with an attitude like mine, then you will probably NOT get the 2nd chance to go back and snip anything further. It's a ONE-SHOT deal. The guard I know is supposed to help, but the world just builds everything for a right-handed person (majority rules) and the lefty has to compromise. However, we are used to this, so the guard, for me, is useless.

Just what I needed.
This is a great dog nail clipper, especially for the price. I love the nail guard, I am always worried that I could accidentally cut down to my dog's cuticle, especially since he's so squirmy. But having the nail guard really puts my mind at ease. The blades are sharp and look like they'll last a long time. My only complaint is the lock sometimes slides and locks the clippers while I'm in the middle of using them, but it doesn't bother me that much. Overall great value.

They work great on my Yorkie
I have been using these for several months on my 8 pound Yorkie, and I am very satisfied. He does NOT like his paws touched so I needed clippers that would make the process as quick and painless as possible. I ordered these based on the great reviews, and I was not disappointed. I always cut his nails after giving him a bath, and it's like cutting butter. It's still a little bit of a struggle to allow me to touch his paws, but the fact that these clippers do such a great job makes mine easier!
