It seems to do a nice job
I like that it doesn't leak out water. Remember you must wring it out some, don't fill it totally up, or your instrument may get wet. Good cost, doesn't take up much room. Should last a while in my little nieces violin case. Thanks. Kem. 10/21/24

Great little humidifier!
When I purchased my new violin, my Dampit himidifier wouln't fit in the F-holes, so I needed to find something for the case. This was perfect! The D'Addario Small Instrument Humidifier is the perfect size for my case, and the Velcro included with it keeps it attached inside my case securely. It arrived quickly and does what it is needed to do! I actually recommend it over a Dampit (no risk of damaging your instrument). I highly recommend this humidifier!

Some quirks
I got a surprise from this little gadget. The instructions tell you to remove the top and pull the sponge out and moisten the sponge and then replace the cap and sponge and then put the humidifier into the instrument case and close the case and secure the lid.Well, this seems easy enough. But I was very surprised when I found a very thin piece of material inside the humidifier that didn't look like a sponge. It was about 1/8" thick or so.When I poured some water on it this material, it expanded to about 1/2" thick! Hey, I'm not exaggerating. And that doesn't include how much it expanded lengthwise. In fact, it expanded so much lengthwise that I couldn't get the cap back on! And I had really squeezed as much water out of the sponge that I could. So to try to solve the problem, I pushed the sponge down inside the humidifier as hard as I could, several times. Finally, I was able to put the cap back on. However, folks, I see no reason why they couldn't have used the proper size sponge to begin with! I don't know yet how well it's going to humidify the instrument case. It's in my small mandolin case.

Keeping a couple of these and a couple others in the case to keep at ~45%
Plenty easy to use. I keep a hygrometer in my case to monitor the humidity levels. It's mighty dry in Denver, and one of these will keep it better humidified than not, but isn't enough here. I suspect it would work perfectly with just one in many parts of the country. Have found that with two of these (hung over the strings in a two part sleeve that came with a planet wave set, but that I couldn't afford to keep replacing the humidity packs, but an old pair of tube socks would work just as well and easily), plus an oasis (placed outside the body in the gap space in the case), and finally one of the much thinner ones of these that usually hangs from the strings up in the case area by the tuners, that the humidity stays right between 43-48% no matter how dry it gets here.

The top does not stay shut
The top pops off, ended up taping it closed. I thought about sending it back, but didn't want to go thru the hassle of returning it.

Perfect for inclusion in Bodhran carry cases!
I purchased four of these humidifiers to place inside my Irish Bodhran cases. Dry air is the nemesis of every bodhran goat skin. I carefully cut black professional grade Velcro to attach to the humidifier case, and to a crossmember of the bodhran. I replenish the sponge once a week with great results in maintaining the basic pitch of each bodhran! Would HIGHLY recommend these to other bodhran users to maintain that “out-of-the-box” pitch we all so hope for! Highly recommend!

Mandolins
I use these for my solid wood mandolins. I run wood heat in the winter so it can get really dry indoors. Ideally I'll have 2 of these in each case to maintain 45%-50% relative humidity in the case. One under the peg head and one in the gap under the heel of the neck. This works for most hard shell cases, but for something as tight fitting as a Collings-branded TK case you'll need something smaller under the heel of the neck, like a film canister with a sponge in it and holes drilled in the lid. Or a thin violin humidifer that can go in the F holes.

Works gradually for electric guitars
I used this in two electric guitar cases to raise the humidity from around 38% to 50%, as I was noticing sharp fret ends. One case has a semi hollow guitar and the other is solid body. The semi hollow’s case interior is more open and allows the moisture to disperse more easily (but with more volume, it is increasing in humidity at a slower pace) but both are working well. These did not change the climate instantly but they do work, given time and patience. I used this humidifier for electric guitars - which is not what they are advertised for. I liked how gradual these are for that reason, so I don’t overdue it and oxidize the hardware and pickup covers.
