Patrick, had been diagnosed with a dreadful form of cancer, Pancreatic. They are seeing doctors in many places and finding out about where and how to get the best treatment. . He is doing his best to do as much as he can which includes starring in a movie without medication. He is a very strong man and loves acting.He and his wife, Lisa are together as much as possible. They show no real fear but we can only imagine how much discomfort they both have.Lisa tells us via her words how really difficult it is to know that her husband of many years will die at some pointAs the cancer worsens he spends his days in the hospital with numerous medication changes and all efforts to save his life are no longer working.What makes me wonder is why there is no mention of any religious affiliation with a place of worship, Bible reading or praying but she has stated that friends pray for them.If I was in this situation I would be on my knees as much as possible asking Jesus before I made one step with regard to doctors, medications, activities or anything.There is much love between them until the end of his life. She decided to bring him home and let him enjoy what he could. It was her desire to make it easier for him without all the medications and they could be alone. Family and friends could visit there as wellI kept waiting for her to mention some hope of where he was going after his death but it was never mentioned.Lisa goes into much detail about all the wonderful times they had together and how she wanted him to be comfortable in his last days.Their love was so strong which cannot be said of many couples in this world of today.I felt that it was very sad Patrick left this world with no mention of where he would be going Only believers who have given their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ while they are living go to Heaven. Jesus died on that cross so many years ago because God, The Father told Him He had to. It was the only way we could obtain eternal life due to the fact that we are born sinners. Three days later He arose from the grave and He showed Himself to His followers. This is in the New Testament.Will we still sin? Yes, we still have a sin nature but if we have given our lives to Jesus we confess our sins and ask Him to forgive us He will. Some days one may have to pray often and on others maybe not It depends on our words and actions toward others.God bless all of you who have taken the time to read these words.

They'd already survived so much by that point...Swayze's battles with alcohol, the loss of their dreams for a child, etc.Things became so tough that in 2003 the couple were at the brink of divorce,with Swayze's heavy drinking a major factor. At his wife's request they lived apart, coming back only after Swayze made significant changes. Another issue was the fact that the Lisa Niemi who met Patrick when still very young was a far more quiet and private person than her energetic and outgoing husband. She learned to adapt but being in the public eye was not easy for her. She is quite honest that she had actually given up on their marriage and lost hope before...well, I'll let you discover that part for yourself...but only add that any reader feeling hopeless about a marriage might feel inspired by Lisa's experience and honesty.But it was far from all bad times and struggles. There were also the incredibly happy moments, many of them happening as a result of Swayze's career. Celebrity opened doors to a whole new world including frequent travels, the opportunity to meet all sorts of people, all while learning and growing together. Upon ordering and quickly being sucked into "The Time of my Life" I was urged by another reader that I needed to buy "Worth Fighting For". I was on here ordering within minutes of being given the suggestion and I have no ounce of regret for it.I was immediately sucked into this book, just like the previous book written by Buddy and Lisa.I've never personally experienced seeing anyone close to me suffer from an illness like this so I can't declare myself as being knowledgeable on the emotional rollercoaster that it causes but I can say that Lisa truly had a way with her words of making me feel like I was right there watching them go through this - maybe like a "fly on the wall" perspective".The book is thorough, not sugarcoated and shows just how much of a [insert vulgar word] cancer truly is. BUT it also shows just how strong Patrick (and Lisa) were throughout this entire process. Patrick defied the odds and became quite an inspiration for people to fight with all their might.I'll always be angry that cancer took Buddy's young life away from us - and what lives it will continue to claim until a cure is found - but I truly commend Lisa for her strength and for those who all experience this too.Near the end of the book when I came to the part about Patrick's last hospital visit and last day of life, I paused, staring off into space not knowing if I really wanted to read what I was about to read but I composed myself and went through it. I was left with tears streaming down my face as I faced that part of the book but I don't regret it..This is a must read!

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT READ THE TITLE" WORTH FIGHTING FOR "JUST SUMS IT ALL UP,LISA OPENS HER HEART IN THIS BOOK OF UPS AND DOWNS,COPING WITH CANCER BEAUTIFULLY BOTH HER AND PATRICK. SHE REALLY PUTS ALL HER SOUL INTO THIS AS WHEN READING IT I CRIED BUT ALSO SMILED AT HER STENGTHS TO MOVE ON WITH HER LIFE. BRILLIANT READ LISA IS AN INSPIRATION TO MANY.

I thought this was going to be a book about their life together and whilst it is very moving I was hoping for more past history.
