Great choice
A bit loud (high pitched) but works great. Rips BRs and DVDs out of the box. Haven't tried downgrading firmware yet but also don't have a need for UHD rips just yet. Definitely a solid choice for my needs. A bit on the pricey side. Otherwise easy to use, compact, and seems to be made well.

Good drive, one caveat
When I received the drive today, there was no surrounding box or cushioning. Someone slapped a shipping label on the OEM box and dropped it in the mail. The box took some damage, but fortunately it did not reach the contents. The drive itself is very compact and quite attractive. The power/data connection is microUSB. The included cable has double USB-A connectors. Some computers do not supply enough juice to run the unit by itself, so there is a second USB connector just for power. I plugged mine into a USB-C adapter, and it runs just fine without a need for the second plug. The drive seems to function just fine. It has read and played Blu-ray disks, DVDs, and an audio CD. I have burned a data DVD with Toast 20, and it functioned just fine (write speeds ran from 4x to 7x, which is excellent). It read from an UHD 4K disk just fine, but could not play the movies. This problem is because of the lack of software for 4K disks for the Mac. It will play 4k files just fine, but the two major software packages for playing Blu-rays on Mac don't yet handle 4K Blu-ray disks yet. Leawo says a future update will address this. Macgo player doesn't say anything yet. One issue: this little drive is noisy at times. When playing or burning disks it's relatively quiet. When spinning up or down or moving the head around, it can be quite noisy. Still, I'm happy I bought it. My experience with it is short, but so far, so good.

Good 4K UHD Drive with LibreDrive & Fast Ripping Support
Works extremely well, especially with LibreDrive for watching and ripping up to 4k blu-rays with no problem. Reads and writes extremely fast, is very compact and affordable. The only downsides are it uses an ejecting tray, which feels flimsy, and it gets very very loud when reading/writing discs. However, if you are gentle with it, it should last a while.

Does Everything I Want and More!
I bought this seven months ago in October 2020 and it's been great so far. I am a Mac user and I am able to rip Blu-rays with MakeMKV, I have done DVD and Blu-ray authoring (with a separate application, not the included ones because they’re PC only) and I’ve burned dual-layer Blu-ray discs and dual-layer DVDs. It should also work for triple layer discs such as 100GB Blu-rays, but I’ve not tested triple layer discs, only dual layer. When I’m burning discs, it’s remarkably quiet; at least, I can’t hear it over my MacBook Pro fan unlike other drives I’ve had. I love that this drive has a pop-out disc tray and a pinhole ejector. When discs periodically gets stuck inside, you can stick a pin in the hole and get the disc tray to manually open. It plays all of my commercial 1080p Blu-ray movies. I don’t own any 4K Blu-ray movies nor do I have a computer monitor that supports 3D video, so I can’t speak on the 3D & UHD capabilities of the drive. Software: Mac Users- We’re on Our Own I primarily use the Mac and I am aware that the included Cyberlink software is several years old and works on the PC only. Mac users don’t need any extra software to rip with MakeMKV, but you will need to go find your own software to play Blu-ray movies such as MacGo Blu-ray Player and you’ll likewise need to hunt down a decent Blu-ray authoring software (Roxio Toast 19 Pro is rubbish but it can potentially get the job done as long as you use Verbatim discs only). PC Users- The Software is Old but Adequate PowerDVD 14 is old but it does exactly what it says on the tin- it plays Blu-rays. Power2Go 8 does CD/DVD authoring and data CD/DVD burning, but it only burns data Blu-rays, it doesn’t do Blu-ray authoring, which is unfortunate. If you’re a PC user that wants to do Blu-ray authoring, you’re up the creek without a paddle using the outdated bundled software that comes with this drive. Power2Go 11 and newer allegedly does Blu-ray authoring. Verdict: This Drive is Amazing All in all, I’m very happy with the drive. It’s been quite reliable. Mac users shouldn’t count on utilizing the software, but the drive itself is capable of doing literally anything- writing dual and triple layer discs, playing UHD, 3D, etc. This Blu-ray drive has earned its 5 stars.

Useless.
This model is no longer compatible with current macOS versions, despite the device being manufactured only 18 months ago. LG support took an hour to eventually tell me that (a) LG provides swap options for out-of-warranty devices; and (b) there are no swap options for my device. No idea why they told me (a) only to contradict with (b). An incredible waste of time and money. Don't count on LG to continue releasing firmware updates for anything ever. I will never buy another LG product again. Extremely frustrating.

works great with makemkv after firmware flash for 4k rips
with a firmware flash, this drive works very well with makemkv to rip 4k blurays. not a bad dvd/standard bluray player for PC either. i've had some issues with reading discs, but only on dirty/scratched ones or cheap releases (like my $10 austin powers bluray collection).

A 4k UHD Upgrade to my standard 1080p model I have been using for years.
I have the standard blue ray version of this drive and it works like a champ. And so does this one. I have no issues with build quality and the drive works great. You are going to have to flash the firmware to be able to back up your media. I like to put all my movies on a dlna server at full quality and this does just that. Ripping speed is reasonable and playback is perfect. Installation is a breeze, just 2 usb connection for stable power and use. I really like this drive as it can be mounted vertically.

Best drive I've ever had!!
This is the best drive I've ever used. It worked perfectly the first time! It even came with free software to play Blu Ray discs and dvd's. Most pc's don't have the apps to play those. I love this drive! It has never messed up thus far. The only negative thing I would state is that Amazon just slapped a shipping label on the box and sent it out. I'm surprised this wasn't damaged or stolen seeing that anyone could see what it was. Thankfully, I have a trustworthy delivery man with UPS. Other than that, the drive is perfect!!

Christian O.

LG makes really good products and the same is for this DVD/Blu-ray player. It's compact and does the job with no issues. It comes with CyberLink Media Suite 15 disc and plays my Blu-ray movies no problem. At this price range it's a good player. Yes it has a plastic case but most DVD\Blu-rays are, hell even compact disc players back in the day was plastic and they were fine. I do recommend this player for the quality, price and performance plus the added software that you can register. As a side note you can copy all the files from the disc and keep as a backup and it'll still install the software and drivers for the player without issues.
