This is by far the best soap on the planet
This is by far the best soap on the planet!! This is the 2nd seller I bought from but the soap is pretty much the same. I was hesitant at first because of the reviews about the dry skin. I figured, ehh, I have lots of moisturizer. I like for my skin to feel squeaky clean when I shower and body washes don't always do that. Let me tell you....This soap does not disappoint!! I do however have to wash twice in some areas to get the squeaky feeling but I love it anyway. In regard to the dry skin, well I guess every person is different. I have normal to oily skin on my face and crocodile skin everywhere else and it did NOT dry my skin. Of course I moisturized as usual but I don't use moisturizer on my torso area and it was not dry at all. I also used it in my hair. I have salt and pepper medium length hair and it did not tangle any more than shampoo, leave a film or stain.Just use conditioner. Again, everyone is different and the water you use to shower may play a huge role in the results. I don't have any special filters or softeners for my water. It does leave a film on my tub though. The product came in 1 large chunk. I crumble about 1/2lb and make a gallon of liquid body wash with distilled water because it crumbles easily and I don't want to waste it by dropping it down the drain. I had a half empty gallon of water and I just put in the soap, let it sit for a couple hours, mixing on occasion, then when it was all melted I strained the pieces of debris, poured back in the gallon and added more water. I also made a paste to use directly on acne. I will definitely be using this for life. I do however recommend that you always weigh what you receive. Just saying.....UPDATE...I learned not to make this too watery (that's why I had to wash twice to get the squeaky feeling). I added the rest of the soap to it and now its perfect. I would also suggest using only distilled water.

Absolutely great!
This is only the second brand of African Black Soap I have tried, but it's the nicer of the two. I find this one has less grit. I understand that due to the handcrafted nature of these soaps, grit is normal, and we should suds in our hands, then put the suds to our skin, as rubbing the bar right on our skin can leave scratches if there is sand sticking out or whatnot. Always use care. But this brand does seem more pure than the other I tried. Both do a great job of cleaning just enough grease off my skin without leaving the skin overly dry, and both reduce the itch of sensitive skin. I have also had great results using both on my hair. This brand is a bit softer than the other I tried. Not so soft you could roll up a ball of it but soft enough that when you cut a chunk off, it doesn't crack or crumble. And I love that it has such minimal wrapping, just a bit of cling wrap, where others have boxes of cardboard or plastic that will just go in the garbage.I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this soap!I definitely plan to get this brand again in the future.

Raw African Black Soap from Ghana 5lbs
I love this soap! It lathers and cleans extremely well and leaves a nice, light, fresh fragrance! It is also natural as opposed to those fake African black soaps with harsh chemicals that are being sold under the guise of simply being "colored" black. I would have even it given it 5 STARS, but it has these hard "rock" pieces in the mixture that are sharp and can really hurt. I've scratched myself several times using this soap. I try to take those pieces out, but sometimes, they are just too embedded within the soap, and it's to no avail. The price has gone up a little, but if the manufactures could just strain it to take those "rocks" out, it's worth it. It may not be for everyone, so I would recommend buying a smaller size first. If you do decide to buy the larger size, you will need to cut it up into small, bath-sized bars and store in a large zip-lock bag out of the heat, sunlight, and extreme moisture. Happy shopping!

Good product
I read about this product at several places on the Internet and when I found it here on Amazon at a fair price I bought it.I liked the fact that this raw product is in a close shape to a normal bar of soap and the packaging is great; each bar is wrapped separately. I have been using it for almost 2 weeks now as my only soap, face/shower/shampoo and I love it.I read that you shouldn't use it directly in the hair as the hair will wind itself into the soap and you won't be able to get it out.NOT SO FOR ME....but let me say I have a very short haircut for a women so it's not an issue for me. I do think that if you have longer hair, rub the soap in your hands and then your hands into your hair. A little goes a long way and it lathers very nicely. I also love how my legs feel after I shave with this product. In case this helps someone, I am caucasian.

The soap isn't cured enough
I believe that his soap wasn't cured enough. Because it itches a lot. I've been using black soap for years. And when the soap is rushed and not cured enough. It will cause irritation. I'm having a hard time using the soap.
