This really does fit HDPE pipe and it's very secure.
This works really well and has a better flow rate than a plastic barb. Even if you heat the pipe, it takes a lot of strength to slip the HDPE pipe over the flare. I had to put both ends in at the same time. The threading mechanism does not need tools, but it's easier if you just use channel locks. Feels way more secure than a barb, even a stainless barb.

Leak-tight, works
This is a great option for repairing a ruptured 1" polyethylene irrigation tube. The screw-on connectors get nice and tight and the assembly doesn't leak. Just a word of caution: look closely at the coupling and you will see that each end has hose barbs. You have to push the tube all the way to the last stop. If you partially insert the coupling into the tube, the screw-on connectors won't "bite". I didn't realize this and cut out a section of tubing that was too large, so I had to get a second coupling and repair it with some extra tubing. Look carefully and measure twice! It also helps to have some tubing cutters to make a nice clean cut. I have ratcheting tubing cutters that I got for PVC pipe; they are more or less useless for PVC because PVC is too brittle and thick to get a clean cut without distorting or breaking the pipe. But they are perfect for polyethylene tubing.

Great repair coupling
Very happy with this. It worked as shown. No tools. Perfect for my main line drip irrigation repair.

Drip Free
I'm using with Cresline Poly Pipe 1" 80 Psi. The walls of the poly pipe are too thin for the nut to grab so I wrapped a 1 inch strip of duct tape around the end of the pipe three times and the nut grabs tightly and is holding drip free after a week at 40 psi.

Made my irrigation channel great again.
Not particularly easy to install (not the fault of the product), but once completed worked well with zero leakage.

Only Coupler Worth A Damn
Does your irrigation system have leaks? Have you been fighting with the junk big box stores sell to join or splice flex poly or PVC for irrigation? Found that even double crimp clamps and tape still are not enough to stop certain blue and other couplers from leaking? This coupler is so much easier and DOES NOT LEAK. Don't bother with anything else, this thing is absurdly better than cheaper couplers (and easier).

Worked great to repair a broken irrigation line. Cut out the bad section, placed this on, fit was great, it's holding really well. Very pleased.

Simple install to fix leaking irrigation pipe
Worked perfectly on my irrigation leak Simply cut pipe to width and slide in …then tighten. It creates the threads by tightening it. Sweet install in minutes.
