No second snare needed!
As a drummer who has been gigging for a long time you want to minimize the amount of drum parts and hardware. I love not having to carry or set up a second snare drum. Most of the songs I play have a high, tight pop to my snare. But every now and then I’ll have a song on the setlist that requires a lower fat sound. So I would need to bring a second snare drum. But now all I gotta do is lay this on my snare and bam. You don’t have to tune your drum and it saves space. Huge game changer. As a seasoned drummer who’s been on the road for a while, I’ve learned to streamline my setup to minimize the number of drum parts and hardware I need to carry. One of my biggest time-savers is not having to lug or set up a second snare drum. Most of the songs I play have a tight, snappy pop sound, but occasionally, I’ll have a song on the setlist that calls for a deeper, more resonant tone. In those cases, I’d have to bring a second snare drum, which can be a hassle. But now, I just lay this on top of my snare, and it’s ready to go! No tuning required, and it saves a ton of space. It’s a game-changer!

BFSD Is Not Just About Snare Drums
I've acquired various Big Fat Snare Drum treatments for my drums, and they've helped me get some warm and fuzzy recorded sounds. As a drummer who is by no means a sound engineer, I always opt for tuning and muffling techniques over software-based solutions, because to my ears, solid analog source material always beats the crap out of digital manipulations. If your source signals are toneless, out of tune and dead, no amount of computer tweakage can breathe life back into them, and if some gamer dork with internet personality disorder tells you otherwise, fire him immediately and tell him to go get a third-fiddle IT job for a failing insurance company.BFSD will help you put the old-school touch, feel and finesse back into your drum mixes.

Killer fat sound
It's great for live when you have a tighter snare, but then need to switch to something thick on the fly. Loosen the snare wires just a touch for that extra gush!

Simple to use, sounds great
What an easy way to change up the tone of your snare. I really like the deeper, more punchy sound it gives.

Product arrived with a fold in it.
Product came with a diagonal fold in it and would not lay flat on snare drum. Luckily I could cut out the “square” in the middle so it would lay more flat. “Fat” snare sound somewhat achieved.

great snare drum sound altenation
Have multiple snare sounds on your snare drum. Great to adapt your kit to different musical styles, even per song. The sound The medford Square ply produces is short, deep and fat. I like it. And I like the easy way to switch back to the normal snare sound. The discomfort this ply raised is the the way to store it when not on the snare drum. During a gig or rehearsal you will need a rather large horizontal surface within reach of an arm length to place this fragile ply in a complete flat angle. Grab it again one song later. And lay down the other ply you used also in the same horizontal way.The ply is sturdy, yet more sensitive than I'd prefer. On the road your gear will often meet a rough treatment. Well... not for this ply please. Once it folds you know you need a new one: it will no longer sound properly. So a thin soft box to store one or more of these plies is necessary add on.
